Like any dispute, you would have to file a lawsuit, but only when money is on the line...

One of my bands back in a day, I was sole writer in the band. Other guitarist start saying he wanted equal share from songs, I was like really? We are not touring ,we are not getting anywhere with this band, and you start this talk?

Eventually we broke up, and they started the band without me, I was worried they would use my songs and I could not prove it was mine. well since none of them could write song they ended up as a cover band and that didn't last long either...

Well in the old days you just smashed a bottle of Jack Daniels and waved the broken neck at the other band guys who ripped you off, until they signed your name onto a bar napkin as cowriter. But dammit, people had to drag judges into this lol

I prefer old method like you say, gets job done quick.

@Ramo - I been registered as a performer/songwriter with BMI since I was 14 - since 1979 - and even with a copyright form, I am still in the habit of emailing the songs to myself to timestamp them.

But nothing can give you that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach like the ice pick twang of a telecaster.

Too easy to break, expensive to repair. Teles are durable.
