Any Rickenbacker love on the forum?

I have two Ricks, how about anyone else. Both of mine are 330 models. One is a Jetglow '91 330/6 and the other is a Fireglow '00 330/12. I love the sound of a Rick. The necks piss me off, but I can't afford one of the 360V64 or 620 models with the wider fingerboards. So, I just make do. The sound is worth the struggle. Every recording I do in a professional studio ends up with a 12 string somewhere in the mix. Even for something heavy, it's amazing how heavy a Rick 12 string can sound with a stomp box or two going into a Marshall JTM or JMP.

Then, I also have this really cool '70s Electra "Lawsuit" 4001 copy. It has a neck-through body, checker board binding, and "Rick-o-Sound.' This little Rickenbastard is so much fun to play.

I have (well my wife actually has) a 1980 Fireglow 620/12 and my son has a 2017 Jetglow 620/12.
They both love, seriously LOVE them.
The only negative comment my son has ever made is, when sitting for a long time with a 620 the lower bout starts to dig into his thigh "a little". Not enough to make him ever think about selling his much loved.
EDIT, forgot to say string changing in the 1980 is a sh*t of a job, the newer ones have full cutouts on the headstock making it much easier.

A six string Rick is on my shopping list, still undecided between them.
Unfortunately over the next few months our money is earmarked for other things :-(

I can relate to the string change PIA factor. I spend top dollar on strings for my 12 string, in hope that I don't need to change them often.

Honestly... I used to thumb my corksniffing nose at Rickenbacker's... 40 years ago. About 15 years ago, I started to notice them, because our local music shop is an authorized dealer. The Rickenbakers have the look of a beautifully built guitar, no matter what model of guitar or bass. I love the sound that these guitars are capable of in the right hands. My problem is, is that I just can not play some Sabbath with them... :dood::dood:

My Rickenbacker 4001, which I sold a few years ago so I could by my ibanez 2400. It was made in Oct 73, and it played like a dream.

I had a Jetglow 330/12 several years ago, for a short while.
Paid $700 used from a local vintage guitar store.
The ultra thin neck left no room for my little Vienna Sausage fingers to navigate.
Also the bridge was a six saddle bridge & the octave strings just wouldn't intonate.
I made a hack fix on the lower E string that helped somewhat, but eventually it had to go.

Guy that bought it also bought a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia off me the same day.
It was party time for Hackmaster...

I actually liked a Danelectro 12 string that I had much better, it just didn't look as cool.

I love them but I can't play them. I even knew a guy that worked at the factory and could have gotten me a hook-up, but sadly I have never found one that felt comfortable in my hand.d Amazing things to behold though.

I think Rickenbacker guitars look ultra cool and were probably the first guitars to feature 24 frets on them compared to others at the time. It must have a very short scale neck or something. You can rock a Rick just like the guy in this video...I love the sound he gets from it and very unique.

Some of the models did have shorts scales. Mine don't. I actually like the older 21 and 22 fret boards better. It puts the pickup in a different position, and changes the sound.
