Any opinions on Duncan Alternative 8 bridge?

I'm surprised ...'evil was a HUGE alternative fan. Didn't you have an actual addiction to Toad the Wet Sprocket and Dinosaur Jr.??

:ROFLMAO:

Sorry Mr. Potato Head ...I'm of no real help on this. I don't think Alternative defined too much of a sound though, other than to say they were big into that "dreamy" '60s sound. Lotsa classic gear and guitars with Bigsby tremolos.

It is a pickup by Seymour Duncan with an alnico 8 magnet, for ROCKIN'

@Mr. Potato Head
I read a bunch of reviews. So far they are all really favorable.
All of them say the same thing.

Here are some of the things said about them from various sites.

has a solid punch when riffing and it delivers clarity and precision for leads and complex fingering

Low notes sound incredibly powerful and articulate ...

Overall, this pickup is a good humbucker for the bridge position. The output and the sustain is excellent.

The Alternative 8 starts with hot coils wound for maximum output. With the addition of the Alnico 8 magnet, the output is enhanced with a punchy sound, full of fat mids and present upper-mids.

No experience here personally, sorry my friend. But spec wise it's 17.1k which is VERY hot wound. However, it's reportedly an extremely punchy pickup and cuts thru the mix with ease yet isn't overly gainy or muddy. Basically, it's the closest an Alnico magnet has gotten to sounding like a Ceramic but keeping the warmth intact.

Here's a demo and you can hear it certainly has a lot of clarity yet aggressive. Lots of mids coming thru, so a great soloing pickup or playing harmonies

All joking aside, give it a try if you like it. The magnets are huge so it's definitely high gain, I'd say. I don't really mess with pickups but I thought they took them back until you were happy with a set, or something like that.

You should start messing with pickups IMMEDIATELY!

They are really great pickups.
They shine with drop tunings and bright guitars.

In my opinion they are better than 99 percent of all stock pickups.

I've rocked probably half a dozen of them over the years. I favor the sh6 or Black Winter over them in most applications, but that's just me.
Do you think it would work in a super light alder body with an all maple Warmoth conversion neck with 6100's? Going to use two Carvin Twin blades for middle/neck very like Duncan cool rails. 500k CTS +- 10% Pots Sprauge .047 orange drop.
