Burl walnut. And it is solid with an iron frame.
My father in law was a piano tuner/tech/rebuilder before he retired. He bought that in poor condition from a deceased estate, and rebuilt it to flip.
My wife was 12 at the time and learning piano, and ended up getting it as a Christmas present from her parents because she kept practicing on it and loved it so much...

Wow, it even has a wonderful story. There go my chances of trying to get you to sell it to me!

I know how the wife feels about it too... I'd need witness protection and a new life somewhere else if I sold it!

Hey M&M... How about a setup like Ray Manzarek used to use? Fender Rhodes Piano Bass on top of a Vox Continental? That would be my favourite keyboard setup...

Key-pounder.... never. Did take 8 lessons and kick myself for not continuing with it. Have a couple of inexpensive electronic keyboards and have been knwon to pound out the lead section to "House of the Rising Sun" and done "96 Tears" a few times....... still kick myself for not continuing.......

This is the keyboard my wife and daughter use. It's a Yamaha YPG-625:

These aren't made, anymore. But, they are a pretty decent keyboard for what they cost. They have a pretty respectable piano sound. They also have a set of audio outputs and a USB port. So, if you load the drivers to your computer, you can record directly to your computer using a program like Audacity. Actually, that is pretty standard with keyboards, today.

Anyway, it has a full 88 key layout with weighted keys, which are pretty decent.
