Another Sad Posting

A former co worker lived next to a bar in Canton, MA which Marvin liked to drink at. Usually when the bar closed, several folks including Marvin would end up at my coworker's place for a few more beers. Every time when Dave and his wife wanted to finally go to bed, all his friends would get the hint, except Marvin. They could never get rid of him, so he'd just ask him to make sure the door is locked and the lights were out when he had enough to drink and would leave. Some morning's he would look pretty rough, and say "Marvin came over after the bar closed again. We finally crashed at 5:00 so I could get a couple of hours of sleep, and he was still going strong. Not sure when he left"

Biggest con job in boxing right there. Sugar Ray ducked Hagler for a while, retires, comes out of retirement and makes a massive list of demands like the size of the ring, 12 rounds instead of the then sanctioned 15, etc. And then flopped all night, except the last 30secs of each round and wins a controversial split decision only to retire immediately afterwards and not give Hagler a rematch. Hagler retired and then amazingly, Sugar Ray comes out of retirement immediately again

I watched so many fights growing up, From Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Spinks, Holmes, Norton, Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Mancini, Leonard and so many more.

I started to watch that breakdown and said, MAN this presenter could analyze and explain nuances in the fights so clearly and with great and learned insights.

Another example of this is his breakdown of Duran's techniques. WOW @ the parts where he said Duran for clinch and feel the arms of the opponent, and through his feel of tension or relaxing, he could tell what was coming or not, and use that to dictate his own actions. What a schooling on the sweet science.
