So now I'm having a should I moment?
Took my recent kit build (Union Flag) guitar into my local shop to show the boys, they trumped me this Duesenberg. What can I say other than YES, then I saw the price ... hmmm. I have plenty of nice guitars, some multiple of the same but in different colours to trade and reduce the out of pocket price. Have to sleep on it.

But do I love it $4,552 worth???
As usual Mrs Gasket said "We only pass this way once, do what you must do"... I must sleep on it!
You have to be willing to spend money on luxury over functionality. Anyone who drives a Mercedes or Porche could have gotten there in a Kia. I love my inexpensive guitars, but I have never regretted the expensive ones for a moment.

Wow...great looking guitar and it's BLACK!:woohoo: It sure has that Gretsch vibe to it and I really dig it but the price is exceptionally high on it. If I ever won the lottery and became financially stable then I would obviously buy a sweet axe like that. Do you know what country it was made in?

I really like the Duesenberg styling. What I don't like is having just a master volume and I don't care for the switch position.

But, the overall aesthetic is very killer. They are some very classy-looking instruments.

Adrian & TR, today Aust $4,552 is approx US $3,290. That "recommended" sales price IS flexible but I haven't attempted any negotiating yet. Any time you negotiate a better price and don't follow through you weaken your position for next time. They know when I start talking ACTUAL handover money they have a good chance of a sale if THEY make it good, in other words I'm not considered a time waster.
Chili, I already a couple of nice Gretsch guitars but thanks for the ebay suggestion.
Ray this guitar without any doubt is in your Porche / Kia analogy.
Smitty & Black, yep BLACK killer aesthetic, worthy of a glass showcase ;-)
After a sleep ... still undecided, it may take two sleeps :-(

Killer guitar but I have to say, if any decision required two sleeps for me then I might just be trying to talk myself into something. When I have found the right ones in the past, there was no thinking/sleeping on it, I knew immediately if they were right and if I was willing to pay the asking (or negotiated) price.

I would like to state for the record---
LOVE THE SHIRT!

how did it FEEL in the hand? was it good acoustically?

It is for me but I'm trying to be fiscally responsible.

Never had an acoustic shirt but if feels good to the hand and the rest of my upper body :-)

Haaa haaa, actually the guitar felt fantastic, acoustically very loud with long sustain.

No worries, gasket. I wasn't really suggesting. As it is your world over there, plus your scenario, hard work building guitars, working for other cash to buy guitars etc. You are the only one who will ultimately work out what works for you. A Duse,,,,,,,,,,, a hunk of tree wood, or no new guitar at all. I was merely hunting for what appeared to be a similar type guitar out of curiosity to see how the prices might compare. I really know very little about Gretsch's either.

THAT is one of the KEY factors for me regardless of price (well o.k. not really) but the way the guitars FEELS and sounds acoustically --- I "weird out" the guys at Guitar Center when I take an electric IN the acoustic ROOM -- so I Can hear it IT not the retard 15 year old cranking sweet child O Mine (poorly) at warp volume over in the corner-- or the 7 year old BASHING away on the drums-------
