Another Gig

Well, we got another gig under our belts.

This one was much different. It was indoors at night, instead of outdoors during the daytime. It was pretty high energy and there was pretty lively audience participation.

We hired a photographer for this one so I should have some decent pics in a few days. She sort of specializes in concert photography. It is probably the first time I’ve really experienced a photographer moving on the stage getting shots of the band.

In the mean time, here are a couple of shots I got:

I didn’t know this before the gig, but the owner of the venue just decided to add live music. We are the very first band to have played for him. He was pleased enough that he wants to book us for the next few months, at least. Our drummer made the contact because he has known the owner for some time.

Our bass player has contacts in the Baltimore area, so we may eventually be in your neck of the woods, @chilipeppermaniac !

Maybe not jumping…BUT I use a wireless pack on my Jackson and I did go out into the middle of the dance area and did a solo on one song in the middle of the people. The singer often left the stage area to sing among the people, too. She’s pretty gutsy and fearless. Crowd interaction is her thing. When she did that, the bass player and I tended to migrate toward the front of the stage. I’d do that even when plugged in with my other guitars. The singer is the founder and leader of the group, and she is great to work with. She encourages that sort of spontaneity to propel the energy.

I don’t use the Jackson much…only on a couple of songs. But it serves as eye-candy and works well when a little Floyd Rose action is called for.

Sounds great! I use wireless too. Playing out front is fun if it isn't too nutso.

Last night we had two more gigs come up for Labor Day weekend. Another band, whose drummer was at this event, had to cancel their two gigs this weekend due to an illness with their vocalist, so they asked us to cover their slots.

It's gonna be a busy weekend!
