My old bass player from Awakening Stick has been digging through old videos from when he would leave a camera near the soundboard, and then posting them. This one is from 2007, and we had my friend Tony sit in with us. We covered Mott The Hoople's "The Moon Upstairs." Although, we did tend to play it more like the Dictators. It's also the only time I ever played a Strat in public.

a.........ah....... AAAAAAA STRAT!??!?!?!??! ............the horror :)

Hey .... sounds like you ;)

well done! -- hope this bass player shares more videos!!!!!
Thanks. He's being fussy about what he puts out. I have a huge drop box folder full of stuff from him, but promised not to share it. He's cutting out the songs worth sharing, and hiding the rest.

Coincidentally, I just got some Vogon Poets stuff in my mailbox this week. We're discussing putting that out there too.

This is solid gold, Man...

It's authentic...very good performance...and I love obscure covers!!!

You look very comfortable with the Stratocaster.

Strats make me thing playing comfort and upper fret access.

Very nice work all around!!!

For us it wasn't really obscure. Both Matt and I would listen to Mott quite a bit, as well as the Dictators. They do a killer version of that song. We had a repertoire of about twenty covers we could throw out at any time, along with all our original music. When we were discussing what Mott the Hoople cover we should do, that was one of the first songs to get mentioned. Then the question was, "Mott's or the Dictators' version?" It ended up being somewhere in between.
