My wife's sister is on her death bed. She's had Stage 4 breast cancer and appears to have had an allergic reaction to chemotherapy. Her organs are non-functional and they are just keeping her alive until family can get there. So, we're running up to New Jersey tomorrow.

Oh no. I am so sorry. I wish her and your family strength in this difficult time.

F**ck Cancer.

Again, i hope and wish her days are pain free. And all of You strength over that difficult time.

To me that's the most important of it because we all have to go some day and somehow.

F**ck Cancer ---

Prayers to you and your family

-- may her journey be swift and smooth---

safe travels Smitty--

Thanks, everyone. It means a lot.

Right now, it's just a flurry of activity packing and making hotel reservations. Tomorrow one of my wife's other sisters is flying in here from Texas and riding up with us to New Jersey.

I have a feeling the emotion will fall in on them tomorrow when they see their eldest sister in the hospital.

It's somewhat macabre, in a way. Her husband is literally waiting for the family to arrive, say their goodbyes, and then they'll pull the plug. Fortunately, she and her husband have discussed all this and they're following her wishes. But, it still feels a little eerie.

Sorry to hear. My prayers to her, and your families.
Sorry you have to come to New Jersey as well.
Just before the holiday the travel and traffic may be hellacious.

If you will be in the Monmouth or Ocean county areas, I know this sounds stupid, but if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

Thanks, dude. But we're going to the Westville area. My wife is from a sizeable family so there will be lots of folks.

Yo Smitty, peace be with you and your family. This whole cancer crap just sucks big time. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you and your wife. I know that words can't take away the pain, however the moral support that I have received here on this forum regarding my daughter's battle with cancer have been extremely helpful just by feeling the outpouring of love. So let me pour some love your way my brother.

Thanks, Grant.

Just to clarify, she’s actually my sister-in-law - my wife’s oldest sister.

I do appreciate all your kind words.

I’ll know more this afternoon when we arrive.

Hey smitty... Sorry to hear the bad news about your sister-in-law. Totally understand the difference in emotions when dealing with somebody who suddenly died as oppose to waiting for a terminally ill person to pass away. Strength to you and your family.

Cancer really does suck. Quite often there will be encouraging news on understanding how different cancers work, or treating them, or preventing them. I thought by now there would have been a cure for all types of cancers. Is it ever going to happen?
