Another Band:

Got asked to play for another band today. Lot's of 1960's stuff (Yardbirds/Neil Young/James Taylor) and 70's stuff (Badfinger, Eagles, etc.) now, I'm a huge 1980's guy - that's my preference - but the offer has me thinking.....Thoughts???

How do you approach work in a different genre than you are used too???

Go for it Brother! Or I will come down there to do it. All great stuff there.(y)(y)

I think you are right. Something is missing in me when i dont have a creative outlet.

We were talking and they asked me if I could change Natalie Merchant's 'Carnival' to a guy's song - and I thought about the line:

And I've walked these streets
In the madhouse asylum they can be
Where a wild-eyed misfit prophet
On a traffic island stopped and he raved of saving me...

Not really a female's song per se, but immediately I suggested

"Where a wild eyed misfit prophet - and a traffic island starlet - how she raved - of saving me..."

Ha!

Awesome!

Congrats and good luck!
If it scratches your itch to perform without becoming burdensome or boring its a winner I would think.

I'll make my usual comment that I really listen up to the thoughts you seasoned gigging guys have.

Now, I've succeeded in selling off a lot of stuff and I'm now a lot more focused, but Man, the Tone Train really took me for a ride....

I'm sure every one of us here has traveled that road a time or two! I'm actually at the point where I am gonna start consolidating. I have at least three guitars that I have to force myself to play, and when I do I mess around with them for 15-20 minutes and they go straight back in the case and I grab a Les Paul, so I think it's time to part ways with them and get another LP that does something a little different than the ones I already have.

Anyway, good luck with the new gig!!

Thank you, Bro. We are all just crazy artists...you included.

Smart fellow!

Last night I grabbed my SG and it felt good. Very close to my Doublneck. The I grabbed my daughter's Squirecaster and it just felt foreign, so I feel like I play better when I love the guitar....plus I now have enough gear - thanks to the crew at TTR - that I need a truck!
