Like a few of you here, I have a Tele body blank. Ash. Been working on shaping the body before I get a neck, bridge, etc.

My question tonight. I want to stain this something like an emerald green then clear it with Tru Oil.

I can find green stain. They seem to be water based and just not sure they'd be compatible with Tru Oil.

Thoughts?

Awesome!

Yeah water based stain with Tru Oil ontop should work fine and many people have done this to great success. The Tru Oil will have a very slight amber tint to it, so it will slightly darken your stain but with Emerald it should be no problem at all.

Good luck and look forward to seeing it!

Cool beans. Thanks. I'm not much of a woodworker. My forte has always been mechanical. Still work on my own cars..... but wood working. I pretty much keep it as simple as I can.

have you seen this @Ramo ?
I dont want to click on anything it looks absolute horror, like a bad dream when you want to run away from something and you cant....

Update boys and girls on my seemingly endless project guitar. I now have a neck for it. Next up will be a bridge so I can get all holes drilled that need be. Proceed with staining and finishing the body. What you see here came from Warmoth. Roasted Maple neck with an Ebony fret board.

Looking for thoughts on pots. I'm doing P90s on this guitar. Going to be wired Tele style. One Vol one Tone pot. What value pots and cap. Knowing the usual is 500k with HBs and 250k with singles. Doing some quick research, I've seen people suggest both. I'm confused.

This applies more to Gibson 3way- 4 knob wiring but Ive heard of folks using a 250k in the bridge and a 500k in the neck. The logic behind this is to compromise with the p90 since its in the middle of a standard single coil and a humbucker. Basically, with a 250k in the bridge you are using a warmer sounding pot and in the neck a 500k will brighten it up some. Some go completely backwards on this conversely though.

But in your case you gotta settle for one main volume pot on the tele style wiring. So a 250k will sound better in the bridge than on the neck. But a 500k will choke the bridge some. So you are 6 of one, half a dozen of the other lol

There's also the 2nd compromise of 300k pots which are right in the middle?
