I was actually listening to Live at River Plate the other night. You really can hear how clean they actually do play on a couple of the songs and the magic is when the volume knob is turned up on top of the cookin' amps.

Thats the big shocker with them: they really dont use the distortion people instantly assume they do. The sound is quite clean really, just the power amp distortion being pushed to break up but they dont dime their EQs and get the normal classic Marshall Crunch. Its really awesome how they achieve that.

And Malcolm was the greatest rhythm player in history in my opinion. He WAS the sound of AC/DC

Thats awesome!! Very cool prize.

Cool photo too because you see the famous Gretsch in one of the earlier incarnations of it, when he had both pickups and added a Gibson humbucker. He later said he hated both the neck and the humbucker and gutted them, along with stripping the original red finish off and pickguard. Which kinda gave it an almost semi hollowbody sound with the cavities exposed.
