Legendary drummer, great human being. His stints with J.L.'s Plastic Ono Band, George Harrison, Yes, Chris Squire, Tony Levin and many others helped build a significant part of the edifice of Rock as we know it. Rest In Power, Alan!

Very fortunate to have seen him with his Yes band. March 1984... It was the last concert that I would see in the Los Angeles area, before I moved up to Groovy Beach. That concert was an amazing display of ultra musicianship, and Alan White was a powerful reason why.
To Alan White... May you R.I.P.

I think I saw him at least five times with Yes, starting in the late seventies. Even though everyone raved about Bruford, and how big of shoes Alan had to fill, he killed it. He brought the rock when when needed, was a technician as needed, and knew how to play simply to play for the song. Many drummer friends of mine say he is one of their biggest influences. He will be sadly missed.
