Am I the Only One Watching the Frickin' World Cup?

Sometimes the Football World Cup more resembles a diving competition, but I’m still a fan.

It’s going to be a tiring couple of months with the Tour de France to follow!

I’m watching every minute of it that I can. I do every four years. It’s the greatest event in sports, nothing else comes close.

I'm not watching it. I never get into tv and that would be behind old love boat reruns.

It seems like every four weeks. A place we go to call Pipers Pub and it's English or Irish they don't know yet. They are always showing soocker and if it's now or then? They don't know that either. I found a tv in the corner with the weather channel on all the time.,

Definitely watching it. My favorite team has always been Germany (except for when Norway's playing, which in the big tournaments usually means never), but I have a soft spot for England as well. And I definitely hope the Nordic countries will do well. Iceland's defensive work in their 1-1 draw against Argentina was impressive to say the least. And Denmark beat Nigeria, so things are good so far. Looking forward to Germany Mexico today!

Another Germany fan here Gahr. I’m half German/half Dutch, so only 50% of my rooting interests made the tournament this time but Germany is still strong and has a real chance of advancing. Today’s match should deliver the goods.

I'd watch if they shrunk the field to 1/20th the size. Of course the score would go up. I live in Philadelphia PA. We have a soccer team called the Soul, I think. I couldn't tell you any more than that. Sorry, I'm American. American football be berry berry goood to me.

That should not annoy me that much. I was wondering in a weak moment if The United States ever won? I once again fell back to my thing never ask a question with out knowing the answer. Way to much information when a no or a yes would have been just fine. Google my butt! No in several pages I learned and forgot more about soccer than I wanted. I asked that little hockey puck thing next to me, an Echo and it is always listening to me.
Hey Alexa has the USA ever won the World Cup? The voice said no, they never even made it to the finals. That thing is a wiz in math and I never touch my slide rule or use an eraser. A smart woman's voice and sports mix now I guess.

The USA did once manage to get baseball included as a sport. Britain won gold.

Seriously though, you guys do need to get involved in world sport - you simply have no presence in the most popular, and that can only be a shame.

I would be more into it but all the names foreign sounding and Hans are Fritz are dog names.
Running around in short pants kicking a ball is a stage we went through. Long pants and a bat takes over later. They even encouraged that at bat day. Most of the baseball parks gave out little bats. Bat day or personal weapon day was training for hitting and stop kicking unless you bite at the same time.

Did somebody say “Hockey”?

Tennis, Golf, Skiing, Motocross and Flat Track Moto racing, Grand Prix, Bicycling, Boxing, UFC, Figure Skating, ...?

I'd watch all the above before soccer. Good skill, just not enough visual attraction to keep my interest.

Now I do agree it is fun to play and great exercise, but if I did watch soccer, I would opt for watching the female version. At least they look nice playing even if the score winds up 1-nil

Oh, but have you seen the long pants your footballers wear? They look like they came from a cheap sex shop. And the little handkerchief or whatever they have tucked in the back pocket - I heard that the code is left pocket for a giver, and right pocket for a receiver.

This is how a man looks when he's playing a bat and ball game.
