Alpha or CTS Audio Taper 500k Pots:

I will take any Bourn's that anybody does not like or want. I have always had good experience with them, both in guitars and at work in control circuits for motor control (VFD)

I also like the smooth feel of them that is not at all sloppy.

Even Bourns mini-pots feel like full-size pots.

I do prefer the CTS push-pull, though.

In all seriousness, have you considered NO controls?

Just wire the pickups to the switch and straight to the jack.

Use your amp for all volume and tone control.

I mean...that would never work for my purposes, but...

There is ONE exception....When running in the middle position (OOP) I set both tones at '5' respectively. Yes, I have considered going 'straight out,' but there is a certain essence the tone gets colored with through the pots, caps, etc....
 
I know I've said this before, but, I usually use 1 meg audio taper pots on just about all humbuckers. I play most rhythm at around 8 - 8.5 which is actually about 500k, but I've still got a little extra in the tank for leads. Works for me.
P90s...500k audio pots always.

Robert, I've also seen some 550k CTS pots advertised somewhere too. I'll see if I can find them again.

That seller is Art Of Tone - just a few towns away in Ventura. I ordered a set of (3) for this project, plus a few sets of capacitors....
