Alnico Cream 90 vs. Creamback 65

Don, I appreciate that you're trying to help me I really do, but this is way over my head. I'm sorry, but this is what I see...

How dare you accuse my ancestors of such things!!! ;)

Well, that didn't last long. I like the cream 90s, I like them more that I ever thought I would, but I don't like them all the time. They sound (for lack of a better term) very hi-fi. Much like KT77s sound hi-fi, a term some elseone used for them and I didn't know what they meant until I tried them and I think it's a good way to describe them. I'm playing my ET-65 now. (I made a comment yesterday on another forum that @fitz saw and I thought I should explain, lol, but I didn't want to get into it there) I think maybe I need to find another used 8ohm ET65 to pair with it in this cab and save one of my Cream 90s for a 112 cab, and sell the second one. :hmmm:

To be fair, the weather is changing drastically here and nothing really sounds "normal" right now. So I might not feel the same way in a few weeks.

Yes. So that's a problem? Sorry, man...
Nothing to be sorry about…It would be an oddball in my collection. But…who’s to say that my collection isn’t oddball already…
I have three 16 Ω 1X12s right now…one 8 Ω 2x12…and one 8 Ω 4X12…
No single 8 Ω speakers…other than the 4x12…though.
So, it would be forever condemned to run solo…or combined to a 3X12, or 5X12 rig.
I have more flexibility with a 16 Ω. Two 4X12s and three 1X12s @16 Ω, all with 16 Ω speakers.
I guess I’m committed….or should be.

What if you had both of them to run 16ohm in series?

In case anyone is keeping score...I've still been testing speakers and comparing them with each other and even tried a few combinations again. I've come to the conclusion that there's one speaker that does it all better than the rest (that I own), best cleans, best low gain, best mid gain, best high gain. I really don't see why I should look any further.

Jensen Nighthawk FTW!!

I've been really happy with it for a few days now so I don't think I'll be pulling it again. Both of my Cream 90s are for sale, along with my Creamback75 and possibly even my 65s. I'll be listing some things in the Classified section soon. I'm cleaning house. I've got speakers, pickups and pedals I'm going to sell off. Also a Ceriatone King Kong, but I don't know about shipping it.

I sold my 2021 Tribute today, that one was painful, but I was tired of fighting with it and I needed the money.

You've got me intrigued..., although those speakers are no bargain for new.
I'll definitely consider the Nighthawks if I come across a deal.

Best of luck rolling the other speakers.

Here's a Vid comparing it to a Vintage 30. This guy's using a 5150 and I didn't like this speaker with my 5150, but the amp is modern gain and it made the speaker sound over the top modern gain. With my origin it's tamed the high end and that "modern" sound comes from the amp. It's hard to find a good rock vid with this speaker.

Edit: There aren't many demo vids out there at all really and the ones that are are for metal. Here's the only one I could find that's not a metal demo. Recording isn't as good, but it's honest.

You need another NightHawk ?

You need another NightHawk ?

Not at this time, I'm good with just the one. I'm not buying anything right now, I need to recover some of the money I've spent over the last couple of years before I even think about buying anything else. @fitz might need one...in fact, I know he does, he just doesn't know it yet. :ROFLMAO:
