Alnico Cream 90 vs. Creamback 65

Interesting demo here between the 2 and then the 2 together in a 212 situation. I'm currently going back and forth between the 2 and I can't decide which one I like better. They're both awesome, but in different ways. I want to try them both together in my EVH 212 but my Creambacks are 16 ohm and my Alnico creams are 8 ohm so I can't do that.

Anyway, thought this was a good comparison between these 2 speakers side by side.

I found the creamback 65 dark sounding I have a pair in a 2 x 12 Marshall cabinet stock in the Express amp a 4 x 12 Marshall cabinet 25 watt greenbacks
sound better to me.

Well I've been experimenting all week, going back and forth between the Alnico Cream and the Creamback 65.

I had added a second jack to my cab so I could run 2 amps into the same cab for stereo so with each speaker wired to a different jack it was easy to switch back and forth..

Anyone want to guess which speaker won the battle and what my EVH 212 is now loaded with 2 of and is now wired up like a normal 212?

Greenbacks?
;) :rolf:;)
Alnico Creams.

Anyway, yes, you were right. I'm absolutely in love with the Cream 90s. It was gradual, but every time I switched back to the Creamback after playing the Cream 90 for a while it was more dull sounding than it was before. At the same time I was learning how to dial in my amp/pedals with the cream 90 and eventually it won out. Then as a final test I put the 2 Creamback 65s in and played them for a while and found myself fighting with them. So I swapped them out with the 2 Cream 90s and that was it. The Cream 90s have so much going on and they really respond to eq changes. The Creamback 65s are kind of bland by comparison.

See post #5…I was riffing on that…mostly because I had watched the video demo between the two. I remembered your previous posts on your tastes for tone, and had decided for you, before he posted…in my head(not a pretty place, but it works for me).
Where’s that confounded popcorn?!?!

Oh ok, that didn't resister at all. lol. I'll take Creambacks over Greenbacks any day!

I had a feeling you'd at least like the alnicos with the O20 once you gave them a try.
That's a tight field in a shootout with M-65 creambacks.
I have Tone Tubby 50w alnicos reds in ply 112 cabs for one of my Origins, and M-65 CBs in PB 112 cabs for the other.
If I had to describe my alnicos in one word, it would be "smooth".

I wonder how the 90s would compare against the H-75 CBs.
I have a quad of those in my VM2266 cabs.
And yes, the H-75s beat out the G12C greenbacks.
I'm not a greenback fan either, except for my little Lead12 & Lead15 duo.

Dammit @fitz , you made me pull my Cream 90s so I could try the H75 again! :bash:

:ROFLMAO:

After you mentioned it I can't remember if I tried it in this cab since I put in the KT66s. I know I tried it in my Mojotone cab and didn't like it, but that cab is gone now (nothing sounded good in that cab). I remember I didn't like the 75 for a lot of the same reasons I didn't like the Cream 90 before. So I got to thinking (because I can't help it) and it stands to reason that if I like the Cream 90s now, I might like the H75 Creamback now, too, right?

It's frickin' good, man, real good. It's the first time I liked it. I only compared it with a 65 because I didn't want to unsolder my Creams, but I might have to now.

And just when I thought I had it all figured out.
