All reverbs are not created equal

I used to have a simple way of evaluating reverbs...It either has it or it doesn't. I did not really have an ear for the types or the quality of reverbs until recently. The TC HOF2 has led me to explore what is good and what not to my taste, both in that pedal and elsewhere.

TC HOF is notoriously lacking in the sspring reverb department. As a result, I ordered a used Hermida Audio Spring Reverb. This less available than their more polupar Reverb 3 (superceding versions 1 and 2). Alfonso Hermida was well known for his reverbs and it seems his company was bought (or partnered) with Lovepedal. There is not much out there for the Hermida Spring, except for the lonely, pre-production video below

So, what is your reverb of choice?

At the moment I’m either using the built-in reverb in my AC30, or a EHX Holy Grail Nano at home.

But what I really want is a Catalinbread Talisman plate reverb.

Ive tried many bargain bin reverb pedals----
Then I was blessed with this

And my "reverb search was over---because--- well -- I OWNED the HOLY GRAIL!-----

GAHR, having heard the few clips of you playing, all you need is a few beers and a crowd to play for my friend.

I have the HOF, I had that 1 also and an AMT Reverberry. The Herm sounds good, the AMT didn't have Spring. HOF for versatility I guess because I don't use a lot, just experimenting around with it really.

Goldmember must respectfully disagree.

Quote from the Tone Rooms' Book of Reverb, Chapter 2, Verse 21:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all reverbs are created equal, that each and every reverb pedal is
endowed by its creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Reverb.

And from the Holy Book Of Armaments. Chapter 2 Vs. 9-21.

note yet again the holy grail "tie in"

Just buy the GRAIL Lad!

I've always been happy with my Earthquaker Devices Ghost Echo. I had a Boss RV-5 for a while but ended up trading it for a TE-2 Tera Echo. I don't really go for a spring reverb sound but if I want that it's there in my RE-20 Space Echo. They say the Ghost Echo can do a slapback sound but I've never tried for that.

Mine is a V2 like in the following video. There is a V3 now that is a bit different.

That is very nice sounding. Now I want one! Earthquaker sure makes some nice sounding pedals.

I also like watching Mike Hermans do video demos. Very tasteful guitar player and composer. You never ever see his face in any of his other videos, including this one. Reminds me of the neighbor in the old Home Improvement sitcom.
