Ok, I drinbk a lot...mostly to dull the pain of my life...isssues, man...lost of them....but I just got so totally pissed at GIBSON and their bullshit circuit boards that I bought a vintage 50's style woire harness from Tone Man Gary...

Ok...Colonel...Sir (salute) way, way back..about 4 months ago, over on that fooked up Everything SG forum, you gave me the parts numbers for some bicth...er...witch hats...LOL..All Parts 3242 and 3243...

Will they work with the pots on the harness I just bought???

It has these pots: Bourns PDA241 Series 500K potentiometers - Short-Split-Shaft, Audio Taper

Thanks for poutting up with me...actually, I tapered off my drinking quite a bit, but then I realized that I feel normal when drunk, so tonight I made all my decisions while quite intoxicated...LOL

On the Allparts web site, they let you choose which pot shafts to order knobs for.

I know nothing about Bournes pots. But I did a google search and found this:

So it looks like you can order Bournes pots to fit the knobs you intend to use.
For example, some knobs are for solid shafts, and they have a little set screw to hold them
on. Gibson knobs are for Gibson pots, and the Witch hats you get from All Parts go either
way I believe. I put the Allparts Witch Hats on my stock Gibson pots with no trouble.

I installed CTS pots on my SG, and then the knobs wouldn't fit, because the knurling was different.
So it's just another headache over stuff that ought to be simple. I believe that 24 tooth shafts are
considered fine. 18 tooth shafts are considered "Coarse." Good luck.
 
Strat knobs don't look like Witch Hats... Witch hats look like Fender Amp Knobs.
Strat knobs are unique to the breed, and don't look like any other guitar's knobs that I know.

Pointers will need a 10mm shaft size, or 3/8" ... but I don't use them, so I don't know if there's a
difference for metric hardware or inch hardware.

It all seems so dumb... that we have to fuss around with two different measuring systems, and the whole rest of w
the world uses metric. When I first started owning cars, and buying tools, I hated the idea that I had to have two
sets of socket wrenches. I still do. I learned the metric system when I was 14 years old. 8th grade science eh?
They told all of us, "You have to learn this, our country is going to change over." Hah... But I've been using it ever since, if
I want to measure anything accurately.

The Military is metric, the whole health industry is metric, any science uses metric measurements. It's only a few thick
headed U.S. manufacturers and builders that are arrogant enough to refuse, and cling stupidly to a system of measurment based on the bloody English King's foot. Or the inch...that's the width of the King's thumb. (or the size of the King's d*ck)
The yard, that's the length of the King's arrow... or a measurement of how far off the target he shoots. It all seems really dumb. End of rant...

You are correct on all points...I found the metric pointers, but I am not sure there is enough room under a Stratocaster knob for a pointer....?????
