Is I didn't have a very good Christmas this year..

Years ago (maybe 15) we had at the time 2 cats, a big older Himalayan and a kitten. Well we had the Christmas tree up and the kitten (maybe 6 months old) in the night got up in the tree and got tangled up in the lights. We were awoke to thrashing and crashing and yowling and crying as if a home invasion were happening. It took a minute or two of figuring out what the hell was going on, the tree was knocked over and the kitten was in it screeching and the older cat was running all over in a panic like I have never seen a cat do before. The kitten had wound itself in the lights on a back leg so tight and thrashing about so much I wasn't sure how to get it out. We wrapped a towel around it and the wife was holding it down as I attempted to cut the lights. The kids were up freeking out and the other cat thought were killing the kitten and run up and bit my wife on the finger as she held it down. and let the kitten go and it started clawing at me as I finally got the lights cut off the tree but still wrapped on the kittens leg who now ran off to hide. And then had to save the other cat from my wife who was going to beat it to death with broom. After I got that handled I had to find the kitten to get the lights off it's leg still. Oye.
The wife ended up getting a terrible infection in her left index finger knuckle that was horrible and she could have possibly lost her finger over. We havn't had a cat since those 2.

Yeah. That could change ones view on pet ownership in a hurry.

I like cats. Just can’t have them. Eldest son seriously allergic to cats. And while he’s 44 and doesn’t live with mom and dad anymore. He wouldn’t be able to walk into our house without reacting. Also asthmatic…. So triggering allergies = not a good thing.

I still laughed at the cat supposedly getting fried.

I actually love animals, I am really good with most even skiddish or aggressive ones. We have been without a dog for about a year now ( he was a rescue ) we had to put several down in the last few years, just due to old age or illness. But the wife can't take anymore heart break for a while, I told her I was just going to bring one home someday. But she now can not stand cats, which I actually like having around.

Copy that. Have always had a soft spot for animals as well. There’s a special hell reserved for people that abuse animals. But was never a big dog person. Even at that. We had a Beagle when the boys were growing up. When it was her time to cross that rainbow bridge, I cried like a baby.

Fast forward a lot of years. Mrs. IbLive had been working on me for several years for us to get a pooch. Drug my feet. About 5 years ago we both decided it was time. Me still reluctant, but good with it. Now that she’s here…. I promise you, if I outlive her, I’m gonna be a basket case when she passes.
