AL-3200 VS. Epi 1959 LP Standard which one and why?

Very nice, congratulations. A 2007 with a bit of character is a great way to go, imho. These new "tributes" are soooo much money. The Gibson shift to common models has done great for their profits, but really increased the prices and decreased the end of year blow-out possibilities.

Looking forward to the NGD thread and your further impressions. :dood:

First impression of the build quality and feel of my first Gibson is very good. Muahahahhaa!
Not sure about the pickups yet as I will tinker, but I am not wow'd.
Very bright and seems short on midrange as it came out of the (Martin) box.
Congratulations on the first Gibson! (That 2006 LP that I posted was also my first Gibson purchase)
Bummer about the pickup sound. I hope it is just a minor adjustment issue, or something simple.

I have been up and down on my view of these pickups.
I also noticed the switch was a little wonky/ noisy so I hit it with contact cleaner.

I finally realized the switch was not lifting the neck pickup switch contact out when switched to the bridge position.
So, I was getting various tone from the bridge pickup, depending on where the neck volume was set.

Most times I start warming up on the neck with the volume rolled way back.
So, the neck effect was minimal but still F#$% up my bridge tone.

After a little needle nose tune up, all is well.

Such is life when buying used gear.
I recently sorted the used PAF PRO neck pickup in my Ibanez AS73 that had the coil leads wired creatively.
Maybe the PO tried for the out of phase thing.

So, being handy is essential to the Way of the Frugalist Cheapskate.
