OK can't stop fooling with this stupid SUNO thing. I see how it works now, as far as monetization. You get free credits to start and test it, and it costs $ to buy more.

You can also feed it your own lyrics. I just burnt off a bunch of my free credits to glorify a very special person whom we all adore and admire LOL!!! Gotta say it was totally worth it!

The output is really good - The metal "style" is quite interesting, esp. since there are so many sub genres (as metal fans know).

The genre they lean towards here is an epic Euro-power metal style, which I personally like. All of the examples are good in their own way, and have various musical arrangement components that I'm sure are intentional, because they're literally typical/formulaic. I can't really imagine how it programmatically pieces words and vocals together over top so well.

So what do we actually have here? A vending machine for music.

Odd aside: one of the reasons I got into music as a teenager was to impress and seduce chicks. I'd noticed that they'd aim their doe-eyes up at performers and find musicians to be irresistible.

I'd played for my living for some years. Yes, on the road I had some promiscuous encounters that were facilitated by being a musician. My goal was achieved to some degree in that regard. But... be careful for what you wish for. Free sex with tipsy women... was the 10,000 hours of practice worth it? Then you get 10 years older and think back: "Wait a sec here... I'm kinda average... I bet they sleep with random band members every time they'd come through their little town. Last weekend just happened to be me, their greaseball of choice for that particular weekend."

Outside of sheer wealth, having creative talents was once an compensatory edge that could pique the interest of females. Due to AI, the cheat code of being a musician to impress chicks is about to vaporize. Maybe it's for the best for our civilization.

Call me old fashioned or just old. AI won’t replace the originality and creativity a human can bring to the table.
Part of artistic expression is how imperfect we are. Sometimes those little mistakes we make become art. Something AI can’t replicate.
I’m not a fan. It is fascinating, but in the end, it’s just a search engine combing the web for the parameters you set. At some point it will sound generic.

That and back in the day there were only a handful of ladies that could actually play guitar. Now many good looking ladies are proving they are super talented.

So over time the ladies that would be in the backs of limos with cd players and a bottle of jack are now front of stage.

Just found out with my free account, 50 new credits renew each day. Gives you ten stabs daily. Tomorrow I'm generating personalized songs for both my kids.

Then I'll probably drift back to reality.
Try a song that's already been created like Bark at the moon.

The first one sounds very much like Halford. Dare I say.

Here's the first post in another thread from TVVoodoo on Mar 3, 2024 that led the to this separate AI thread: Copying it here so it's in the same place for futrure reference

This morning I experimented with something called Suno.

It's a full blown AI song/music generator. Not just lyrics, not just music, but full blown produced songs, with intros, verses, choruses, etc. Not yet full quality but already rather astounding for how young this tech is.

Truckin' All the Way (redneck country rock upbeat song.)

My prompt was: "Create a country rock redneck anthem glorifying big trucks with a rap style bridge" 25 seconds later, it gave me two tries at it, here's the second one:
Wheels of Steel

It's only giving me a shorter portion of the generated song, Probably bcz I'm just using the free version.

Frankly, I don't know what to think, it's generic as heck, but where this is all going is definitely cause for much wonder. No AI songs allowed for RiffMasters please!

Might be a fun separate thread. Make a love song for your lady. An angry song about your boss. A wedding video song. I wonder if it does instrumentals only? Pretty insane.

Too bad it's not AI.

AI (artificial intelligence/machine learning) is a new buzzword that is viral all over the place but is representing what it is not. People love saying it though. These are regular everyday computer programs doing this stuff and are written by humans. That is not AI.

AI is the ability for say ..a machine to build and extend its own intelligence without the need of a programmer. When you see a robot sit down, write its own code, then install it into itself, that is AI. Keep dreaming though because all this "robot" stuff that keeps popping up on the internet is human written and triggered smoke and mirrors. People think the actions of the robot are self thought and spontaneous while they are absolutely not.

Reason AI is being hyped? Billions in funding dollars ...all over smoke and mirrors.

@Randy Van Malmsteen . That was just a dream for me. Lol
I never put enough in to it even though before I was 19 I played constantly with a very good drummer every day for a couple of years. Plus when I was a teenager I was never as good I perceived I was.

The guys that I looked up to in real bands they tried to break through all the way in to the 90's It never panned out for them .

By the time I was 19 I new what I had to do and being blue collar was it.
Not really a plan. Lol
Children and marriage followed shortly.

Enough back story , the one guy that did make it was friends of my "Band Idles" did eventually make it. Cliche to drop his name again but Don was very successful and Bobby.

That leads to the other story, read Pete Ways book. "Fast ride out of here"
You want talk about excess and ladies.
That guy partied the big boys under the table. A who's who of "A" listers.
They did achieve a hit writing about it.
UFO's " To Hot to Handle"
AI will never be that good. Good but generic.

You're right.

If it were capable of performing what an actual AI would be, we'd perhaps call it NHI
