After 30 Years, I'm Back To A 1987 Stratocaster:

I was there on all 3 of those songs, Leslie and Rick, and Rik kicked it for sure.
Right around 79, I first heard this guy. I am sure you'd agree his sound is reminiscent of Rick Derringer's style.

GFS has some great deals on bodies and necks...

I appreciate the input. But, if I go forward with this, I will likely not go for GFS. I've read some mixed reactions about GFS bodies and necks, and I don't feel like experimenting with them.

Honestly, I'll likely do the Strato-Sphere thing and get a body and neck that way. But, I'm really early in this, so who knows what I'll do!

or the Warmoth route there Smitty ,but those are not cheap anymore and then you got 40 different neck profiles to choose from. Stratosphere it would be for me to. Strat husk time

I still have a brand new, Warmoth mahogany Stratocaster 24-3/4 scale neck in storage....I will eventually build a Gibson scale, H-H Strat-O-Blaster,

Strat husk time

Yeah, that's kind of how I'm approaching it. If I take the plunge, I really have a two-fold reason for it.

On the one hand, there is the desire to assemble a guitar, more or less, how I want it.

On the other hand, I have the attitude, "Okay, Fender built this. What can I do to it?"

So, I do want to start with a Fender base-line. Is there any compelling technical reason? Not really. It's more just a personal thing.

A few years ago, I built several guitars for some musician friends. They were very well received. I have decided that my Gibson scale Stratocaster will be the first to bear the Von Herndon name. Maybe I will start building Gibson scale Stratocasters????

Getting ready to rout the neck pickup cavity....think I should do the 50's wiring modification by moving the tone pot input to volume pot input????

what will it have a 1 volume 2 tone set up ??? or 2 volumes and a tone

I master volume, 1 master tone....tone pot fed from volume input (50's style), a .022uf tone capacitor and a 560pf capacitor with a 300k resistor, both soldered in parallel across the two hot points on the volume control to prevent high frequency loss when volume is turned down and a standard 3-way switch...
