Adding a Cap Socket for a Pedal Mod

I got this idea from my Keeley Fuzz Head pedal. I wanted to try a different cap with a different value. Why not install a socket to easily swap out caps?

A 20-Pin Single Row Socket is $2.10 each:




Carefully score and snap the socket, and then snip off the middle pin of the new socket:





Removed the cap in the yellow circle:




Socket installed:




And with the new cap:

This pedal is the BYOC Silver Pony II, that was assembled from a kit. The SP II has a separate boost circuit that can be individually activated. I felt that with my Allen Amps Sweet Spot, which is based off of a Blackface Fender Princeton Reverb, that there was too much low end being boosted. I emailed BYOC and asked where in the schematic should I look at, if it's possible to cut some low frequencies in the boost circuit? So, dropping this particular cap's value from .1uF to .015uF sounds good to my ears.
