Adam Jones LPC

I've heard him say that stuff and always figured it was tongue-and-cheek since everyone was always trying to figure out the "secrets" of his tone. Having owned a number of Norlin-Era Customs over the years, including the Silverburst, I can't say if the finish adds anything to the tone but there is something special about them that sets them apart from other Customs, can't quite put my finger on it. One thing that's for sure is the paint makes the clear coat yellow differently than the regular finishes, hence the term Snotburst, and I've noticed that the Silverburst collectors tend to favor the ones that have gone really yellow-orange over time.
What i like is.. whatever we think abut our gear..if we believe in it( sentimental... value, color.. ect).....it adds that lil xtra attachment..that encourages the playing to elevate.

Precisely! Thank you! There's something in every single piece of gear I ever acquired that drew me towards it against something else. Don't know what that "something" is, but its definitely there in of all of them to me. And there are some guitars or amps i play thru, that i instinctively play differently on because that's the style or sound that immediately pops into my head. Weird, but that's how different things inspire me individually

Well, as you know I have my own actual '79 LPC Silverburst, but this AJ is a limited-edition, so collectible, and it would just be plain cool to have around. It's only a little more than a regular Custom, so I don't feel like the price is excessive, so yeah, pretty tempting even if just as an investment.

OK with that said,

Years ago when I likely might have just had my old ( rare finish) Gun Metal Blue Am Std Strat, I was looking to pick up some cool LP's
One I particularly liked was the Joe Perry Sig models. I sure wish I had gotten it, especially if it could be worth what I saw here on Reverb

I actually came close to getting one of these when they were in the store. Only thing that stopped me is the signature under the tailpiece - I just couldn't get past that.

I got to play one when it first came out. Essentially a suped up Studio but it had push pull mid boost if i remember correctly which gave it a nice edge. Loved the translucent black
