Ace Frehley Blasts Gene, Paul & Tommy...

That's similar to me. I pretty much ignored them my whole life and only in the last few years started paying attention to their material. I wouldn't classify myself as a KISS fan, but it is pretty obvious to see the place they have in American rock history, whether you like them or not.

I suppose since I was never one of the KISS Army or a devoted fan, I have more of an "outside-looking-in" sort of viewpoint over the original lineup versus the current one and the drama that has been part of the KISS story for years. I sort of see all sides, but don't have an ardent opinion of my own.

I wasn't into their music. I did dig the theatrical nature of their work.

I did start digging them after songs like "Heavens on Fire" and "Lick it Up" came out...

My uncle saw them plenty times like 3-5 feet away in clubs in early NYC days.
Says the make up would run real bad when they were sweating.

My first concert - with Uncle Rick - MSG around 77 or or so; think I was in 8th grade.
Thought he was taking me to the lame ass circus. It was right around now, for my birthday. Then I started hearing the sound check!!
The only part I remember clearly was the smoke coming out of Ace's guitar.

I was into the music, not so much into the hype and costumes stuff; but it was a fun part of what they are / were.
I used to sing a lot of non kiss not rock songs in a Gene voice, for kicks.
Mostly like the way he sings Cold Gin. add a lot of deep long And Im so tiyyuuuuuurd, YEEeeaahhhh!!!

They lost me with the disco and I was made for loving you, though I dont hate the song.
I always liked Pauls kind of in and out of character singing, ad libbing, etc. or what ever you call it.

I want a Paul Stanley Destroyer!!

the off tempo or in between strum patterns / rhythms in Deuce always intrigue me.

Never saw Paul play a Destroyer....

 does not compute....

I had alll the KISS action figures! (I was 9--dont judge me)

I still have my Barbie's somewhere. I had Action Jackson - GI-Joe's competitor, plus all the Planet of The Apes action figures too.

The Barbie dolls are probably quite valuable now. Mine were all the rare lesbian version...
