About the frequent references...

Bravo Col !
We NEED a MULTI-LIKE function.

Gots a few chuckles.
visiting new Forums is like a box of chocolates....

It is an odd, hollow feeling when you realize the somewhat like minded people you were chatting with - sharing a common interest - are only tolerant and friendly to those who agree with them.

Sorry, it was an idea for a forum shirt. I saw that pic and figured that you're probably the best artist around here....

Just kinda figured since we all migrated over and we were initially all drawn together by SG's that it might be kinda cool. That's all.
Yeah I got that. As long as a T-Shirt run is not really on the way to actually happen, I'll wait in the wings for new designs.

I still keep an eye on things in other forums. I frequent quite a few but don't post in very many. Instead of looking back I prefer to look forward. I look for the good in things, not the bad. One good thing that came out of that other forum is this forum. I "met" many people there that I consider friends and should the chance ever arise will gladly hoist a beer with them. That is an achievement in itself. This forum is on it's way to becoming my main forum but too much looking backward instead of forward may delay that. There is another guitar forum specifically for Canadians that is very awesome. I spend a lot of time there, at least as much as here. It has a similar story. It was recently sold, but to a different company, not an individual. At first people were upset with the new order but it quickly calmed down. The original owner is still involved. It is still a thriving community. The difference is the new owners kept the old owner involved and they listened to the community and explained any changes. Anyway, this will be my last post on the subject. I look forward to lots of great conversations about guitars on here. I'm down to two SGs anyway so a more general forum like this suits me just fine.

Edit: Almost forgot. Thanks for inviting me to this forum.

I was surprised as Hell that this forum started up. I always wanted to ask the question: Why?

My biggest nit-picking complaint about ETSG was Alex's lack of enthusiasm for promoting the forum with some swag. I was looking for some SG info and it was the loss of the old database that encouraged me to start participating at that forum back in June '15. Well, that began my fondness for the cool members and the "speed" of the ETSG forum. Any silly conflicts between members there, paled in comparison to other forums that I have witnessed. MLP, Rig Talk, The Gear Page, are high traffic with overwhelming BS.

But..... I definitely like this new forum, too. I'm splitting my time between here and ETSG. What's really cool over here at TTR, is that some of the Well Known Members of ETSG who stopped posting over there before I became active over there, are once again alive and contributing over here.

(Insert sound dragon is making here).

Again with this!

DISCLAIMER:
No offense to you Col. and please don't take it personal.
I am just using it as an example of something I am seeing and
acknowledge right up front that it may be all in my head.

* I have been so distressed and horrified by 2016 as a hole, that I will cast my vote here to keep it all positive
and try to ** mend our tattered spirits in an excellent place. *** Make a truce with each other, **** and let all the bad stuff slip-slide
away. Sound like a plan?[/QUOTE]

* Why was 2016 such a horror ?
Was it worse than 2006, 1939 or 1349 to name a few.
What am I missing here? ..or am I just totally oblivious?
Someone please educate me.

** See above, or were we tattered by being imprisoned in the unnamed forum that keeps
coming up in discussion? Nobody forced any of us to be there. Participation is voluntary.
I can't speak for others, but I did not escape to here. I joined here. I am still there.

*** Are we fighting? I totally missed that.

**** It's hard to "get away from it all" if you take it with you.

This is a new place having nothing to do with any other place. It is not
(Insert historical date and location of your preferred rebellion here).
it is an internet forum and as far as I know none of our founders are named
(Insert Name of your preferred revolutionary leader here).

The axes are sharp enough.
Stop grinding them.

Rant over.
I'm in a mood.
Deal with it.

I hope this thread doesn't kinda go south.

Let's just forget about any trouble and have fun, we're all friends here...
Nah... I like to think that this thread is going north. Well maybe, northeast. What I see is two or three members who are honestly and openly discussing a situation with the utmost respect for others, or the other.
Yes... we are all friends here, even at ETSG for that matter. But let us not suger-coat the up and down realities of real life.

I'll volunteer and be that "turd in your coffee (or tea)", and tell you that 2017 will be just another year closer to death for our heroes and possibly some loved ones. Are we ready?

Raiyn,
Thank you for NOT editing your post.

Raiyn and everyone else,
I read mine over before I posted it and said "Tony, you should maybe dial this back a little bit."
but then the little voice on the good shoulder said "No. Let it stand. This place is about friendship
and honesty. If that's how you feel, throw it out there into the middle of the floor." (notice room
reference there).

I wasn't questioning anyone's right to be disappointed by the year. It was actually pretty good
for me compared to 2001, 2007, 2009 and 2012 to name a few. Everything is relative I guess.
Just figured if it sucked for people they should feel free to unload why in here. Even though
we are all online friends, for the most part we have not met in person and all travel outside
of each other's circles. That enables a "trust" that a vent in here about something will not
do any "damage" in the venting person's "circle". It's a safe haven to Unload and unloading
helps. Sometimes you have to get a little bit angry to facilitate the unloading so please
everybody, don't hold back because of some "I can't say that." thing you may have
in your head. You can say "that" in here. I for one will not take it personally. I can
be a class 1 a$$hole at times and I'm not gonna get my underwear in a knot if
someone calls me on it.

The fact that we will not be censored or redacted for it is wonderful.

...and by the way. Thank you tons to the people that founded and set this forum up and maintain it.
I can not imagine the amount of work that went into that, let alone the ambition to do it in the
first place and the amount of skill and know how involved. To me it would be like building
another Saturn V rocket out of the contents of my garage.

Thanks guys.

If I wanted to discuss another forum I believe that I'd go to that forum and talk about it. I have no desire to discuss others here. And that's my final answer. o_O
Other folks may see it different and that's their privilege but it sorta like talking about Chevrolet all day on a forum dedicated to Fords.
That's pretty much the way I feel about it too. We started this place with a fresh clean slate. Please wipe the poo off of your feet before entering the house. No need to track in old stepped on crap and track it in on our fresh new floors. Perhaps I should have placed a floor mat at the front door?

We don't need a floor mat.
We have this.

I still visit ETSG, I myself got no problem there.

What Sergio says....... I say. I also go to Pearl Drummers Forum, My Les Paul to research stuff I can find about Norlin LP's and any other thing I care to learn. I am a member at MarylandShooters, TalkBass, Rogers Owners forum, and a few other places.

As one can see, I guess I am not a ForumCorksniffer, but a contributor of positive input on all of them I frequent.
I have hopefully displayed 100% of this type of treatment to all members of all the fora I go to.

Raiyn, I hit the reply spot in the lower right corner, which was supposed to quote someone,
Then added my own words later.

Possibly it is a forum tech glitch? The quote parts show up in my screen.
