ABBA Making a Comeback

It seems ABBA is staging a comeback.

We did a punk version of "Dancing Queen."
This is going to spoil everything.
They can make a come-back, if they stay in the frozen North. Otherwise I'm moving to Zimbabwean.

Microchip Angles take your hand. Everything's OK, down in Discoland.

There are some rhythms that you can't ignore.
They don't knock lightly, they just break down the door.
They push your feet as they pulse through the floor.
Our minds are on idle as they pulse from one to four.

All the machines play with one hand, everything's OK down in Discoland.

There was a message when two brain cells crossed.
It sent out a message, like a shot in the dark it was lost.
We're trying to find it but we might get lost.
Our fears have us frozen like the dew turned into frost.

Come on good people make your stand, everything's OK down in Discoland.

We know we're OK we're wearing the right clothes.
We know what we pay, and we know that it shows.
The manuals say: you're hot when the tube glows.
Four minutes to play, let's see how the song goes (and goes, and goes...)

So come on good people, make your stand.
Everything's OK down in Discoland.

(intro)
You may still remember, when she was just a girl.
Riding with her father, she saw a baby squirrel.
Daddy, stop! she pleaded, please go back she cried.
When she saw the baby, she knew the mother died.

Though she was tender,
she knew she couldn't keep,
an animal as wild as you, and now she cries herself to sleeeeeeeeeep.

Everybody knows: how it is you live your life.
And the story goes, you want no lover and you got no wife.

Please don't cause her any pain, she looks like a woman but she's only a child.
Don't involve her in your game.
You know you're just too wild.

Gawd. Is this a promise or a threat? They are approximately the last thing I ever want in my ears.

Well…this could get…umm…interesting….

According to the article, they went into the studio in 2018 to record some new stuff.

That‘s cool. So far, so good.

But…they are going to put on a big concert as…get this…holograms!!!

Yup, they will appear in hologram form as they did in 1979.

You can’t make this stuff up, folks!

Yup, they will appear in hologram form as they did in 1979.

Industrial Light & Magic used 160 cameras to create the "Abba-tars".

So, I just listened to the two new ABBA tunes, “I Still Have Faith In You,” and, “Don’t Shut Me Down.”

They sound just like…well…ABBA.

Being in their 70s you can hear the age in their voices, as compared with their original voices; though, I think they sound way better than many folks do in their 70s. But, they retain the quintessential ABBA sound, complete with big orchestration. I think ABBA fans will probably be pleased with it.

Honestly, I am kind of curious to see how well this hologram concert comes off. I’m not sure that would ever catch on with the more traditional rock scene, but in a more techno-centric crowd, it may end up fairly successful.

I’ve gone from being dismissive and skeptical to being curious about the outcome of it.
