A Mini-Skirt for my amp ;-)

Maybe You know that i use a Mywatt 200 amp which is a clone of the Hiwatt DR201. The beast is not too heavy, just 22kg. But its headhell is wide and has just two handles on top which makes it a nightmare to carry the amp (i have to cross 10 (!!) fire doors on my way from the apprartment to the garage :-( ).

This monster:

You see that the headshell is a lot wider than my cabs, and its feet hardly fit on the cabs.

So it needs a better headshell. Less wide, more lightweight and as easy to carry as possible.
It turned out into a tough project, mainly because the wood i bought, permanently broke when i worked on it. And because tolexing i really not my thing and never will be ...

But finally i'm done. The amp is now at home for final inspection and will be brought back to my rehearsal room next monday. Now it has the width of my large cabs - the red one above - is a does not weigh that much any more, and is really easy to carry due to the side holes. My scales tell me something about 17.7 kg instead of 22.6. Drastic if true.

Well, last sunday we had a gig. The 1st after corona.

As i hoped, the amp was really easy to carry - really good to handle because of the open design, and the narrow width, and only 17.5 kg instead (well, it must be ensured that the tubes are not touched during transport) instead of 22.5 kg. The currently cold weather and the energy price crisis (energy is 8-10 times as expensive as it is in the states) encouraged me to wear some old but warm clothes instead of something i would have liked for a gig.

You see me playing Blacky VI and on the stand my favorite basses Sharkfin and RD. The notebook running a drum computer - hydrogen on a Linux box kanemd Krafla which is a volcano in the northeast of Iceland. My computers prefer carrying names of volcanoes but it is not always easy to find sufficiently short names.

Setlist was dominated by Sting and The Police
