In my Godin Progression Strat, I have a 9volt battery that operates my H.D.R switch. for those that might not know what H.D.R is , it means High Definition Revoicer. Anyway I was playing along and the tones had changed with the switch in the on position. So I thought the battery must be dead.

Well I know its been in there for a long time, Godin claims about 200 hours playing time. So took off the back plate, I had marked on the battery before I installed it, the date was October 2019. I was amazed! I have played that guitar well over 200 hours. So I replaced it with another Energizer battery and marked the date on the new one, I am back in business.

I never thought it would last 200 hours. :celebrate2:

Should probably check the Ovation. Don’t remember the last time the 9v battery got changed. Since I’m not playing at church right now, not having a reason to plug in.

Active electronics kinda blow me away like that. You could play for 3 - 4 hours straight every other day and the battery could last you well over a year. However, you set the guitar or bass down with the cable still plugged in and you forget about it for the rest of the day. It’s dead, go figure.

Our church had two services. I always unplugged my Ovation between services for that very reason. That and I didn’t need someone tripping across the stage and snagging the guitar cord and knocking the guitar off the stand.

Its a trip. Here's Waddy talking about his rattle-can white Goltop - he played it for a decade without realizing it has a preamp in it (around 13:30).

For this guy, one of the busiest session and sideman players in LA, that has to represent thousands of hours.

My kid was using my Ovation Acoustic years ago while he was in college. Told me one day, plugged in it was really sounding bad. Static. Distorted. Asked him if he’d change the battery….. pause…. “What battery dad?” Walked him thru changing it. Problem solved.
