I got this amp right before Christmas. I freaking love the tones and all the features it has. So far I've been stuck on the green OD channel for more classic rock/hard rock stuff. I'm not a chugger. Which too many vids show this amp doing. Big fallacy. Nice low gain mid gain tones in this amp.

It's going into my EVH 412 which I know is doing the Iconic solid. Here's a vid of a player doing other than chugville.

Yes!

That's one of the amps we demo/QC and it's very good quality indeed!!!!

Here's the 5150 line going into the soundproof booth for full volume testing...

I didn't get it to cop VH tones either. Cause I can't play VH tunes lol.

It does me really well though.

I got the Ivory one. It was on pre-order so I thought I'd be waiting for awhile and maybe even cancel thinking I'd change my mind. So was only half in on this amp. Next day I see a shipping email from zZounds saying it's on the way. I was all in then.lol Got it before the price went up a hundy.

Really love this amp. The only con I have is the noise gate barely works and only on the Red channel. Nothing a NG pedal can't fix. Other than that? I love this amp.lol

I think the EVH amp sounds really killer...
at least the ones made by Fender do.
I would say it's one of the better sounding amps I have played in a long time.
Of course it's a bit pricey...

But as usual, I judge amps without using any effects pedals.
It's guitar straight into the amp.
That's the only way I can fairly judge the actual sound of any amp, or compare it to others.

This is the first amp I don't "want" to juice the front end. Not for more punch or tightness and definitely not more gain.

I've been going straight in since I've had it. No effects or OD's. I really enjoy the feel and tone as is. Rolling guitar volume and tone knob gets some cool flavors.

I play them (5150's) sometimes. Good amp I suppose. But still not much gain production. Great for the "Brown Sound" that seems so popular.

It's a lot like Evolution.

We used to have a Ford pickup with am AM radio and a single speaker. I got used to listening to songs on that. Then I went for a ride in my friend's 69 Charger with a Pioneer Super Tuner iii And (4) TS-6906's through a Jet Sound EQ.

My tonal tastes were never the same, because I now realized that sound wasn't one dimensional.

When I listened to nothing but AC/DC, just about any amp would do, but when I heard thinks like George Lynch's more complex tones, I could never go back to that AM radio tone.

Spending the last 7 years working daily in a recording studio also changes your musical tastes and tonal desires too.

I got to try the first iteration of the 5150 years ago in a small local music store. I went in for a Marshall and walked out with the Marshall. While demoing I asked to try the 5150. The employee, who was a killer musician, hadn't played through it yet so it was our first time having a go at it. They had just got the 5150 in.

Both of us were like, "that's nasty" in a good way. I always regretted not getting it. So in the moment years later I went for the Iconic. This iteration is much more of and amp feature wise and I say tone wise too. Scratching an itch that started long ago. A niche amp I didn't have.

Lately I cycle through 3 heads. The Iconic, Origin 50 and the SC 800. Right now I'm honeymooning the Iconic but I will always love me Marshallz.

The Iconic is a ball rattler and bitch slap to the face amp too!(y)
