50's Neck Profile - Why So Obscure?

Saw a nice Explorer, but don't like the slim taper neck. Seems like even the '58 reissue has it... seems only a 1976 reissue had the big neck.....same with new SG standards...

Not sure about the current models, but the Les Paul Traditionals get the chunky 50's D profile. My 2012 has it. Interestingly, it is marginally thinner across the nut than my SG's slim 60's neck (luckily, I can go from a large to small neck without a problem). To find out which, if any current models have the 50's D profile you'd probably be best to shoot Gibson an email asking, rather than search. Cheers

May have too. My 2016 Gibson SG T Series is wider, thicker and has wider nut string spacing than my 2016 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute!
