48.00 question

Notes, I had to talk myself out of getting one of those $79 SG's. I still wish I had gotten one.

However, I did buy 3 Weber speakers for some amps and they definitely improved the sound of the amps

Yea man. It really was a serious deal. I go on GC once a week to see if it pops up again. I'll surely post if I see that deal again.

Ahh, but you did get something for the amp. Bonus!

Feed the beast...It hungers for more gear!

Well the verdict is in.........................

and ---- for 48.00 delivered to my door--------- (drum roll) --------------------------------

Its decent--- it plays--- its normal sized...its "strat-ish" -- as good as say a Washburn Lion or Similar ---it makes lovely noises.....the neck is a LITTLE fat for me (thick front to back-- like a 50's LEster feel) I ---as you all know prefer thinner necks--- I may slap a Squire neck I have lying about on it---if it matches up and then --- it will be just fine.....tremelo works.,.....knobs work....decent hunk of wood (not sure what) but I dont thinki it is a veneer.....tuners work.....

DAMN fine modding platform for less than the cost of the sum of the parts for damn sure---- and a new "Strat" for less than most used Squires on C.L.

FYI my "record" is a MIM blackie Fender for 45.00 --- and a Starcaster with stand and strap for 30.00 ---- THIS is damn close to a Starcaster in "feel" and tone.

Damn solid git fidle for 47.00--- no major issues--- tune and go--- action is a "touch" high --- but after it acclimates for a day --- I will adjust and it will kick arse...

Are you going to kick arse some in the warshroom...ey there by'!

40 minute noodle--- it will not be staying with me--- I will set it up well and send it on its way----the thickness of the neck simply will not allow any REAL playability --

The thicker necks cause an issue with my carpal tunnel and my fingers go numb and "fall asleep" while playing---perhaps the Squire neck will fit---- time will tell.

Thanks for review Master E. I almost pressed the button and bought one a few weeks ago out of curiosity. I got a Squier Affinity Strat at GC instead with a gift card I got during the holidays. I definitely wouldn't have liked that fat neck. It's still amazes me that you can get a decent new guitar for $50.

Damn I spent around $100. on one of those cork sniffery Rondo SX Hawk strats!!
Adrian, how were the necks on your Agiles?
My 2 SX and 1 Agile AL-2000 both have a more medium C than say the Gibson / Epi Slim Taper D.
i prefer the chunkier but it is a non issue for me.

Also, i have some carpal tunnel in my left hand / wrist but from conventional computer mouse.
I have a vertical grip mouse that has helped a lot now at work.

A roll of the dice. Buying extreme low cost is always a gamble. Personally, I prefer not to buy sight unseen. Rather see and examine first. And perhaps I've missed some fantastic deals in the process but again avoided many undesirable issues as well. In a way, I truly believe in the long run you get what you pay for.
