I suspect that this is probably just an "everyday occurrence" on a galactic scale, we've just not had the technology to detect. Now that we do, surprise surprise, we're finding them.
This is only the 3rd interstellar object ever found, hence "3I" "third interstellar", discoved by the asteroid terrestrial-impact last alert system, "ATLAS"
The first one, 1I/2017 U1, "Oumuamua", also had this kind of hype surrounding it, also an idea being put out there mainly by Avi Loeb.
I love Avi because of his open mindedness to things. Obviously his credentials speak for themselves. I like his attitude vs someone like Niel DeGrasse Tyson. Don't get me wrong, I like NDT too. But he's not quite so open minded.
