225 MPH

I like your take on it, but the Lambo is street legal BABY YEA!
yep for all of about 60 seconds before you wreck it into some slow idiot-------or the cops take it.......baby ;)

Funny you mention that I was sitting in traffic in my old F-`150 yesterday in Sarasota next a guy in a conv. JAG who had been lane hoping and revving and running his FINE FAST AUTOMOBILE. in and out of traffic trying to get ahead..........he and i were "neck and neck" at 4 different stop lights...............a set of tires on HIS car probably worth my whole truck $ wise...and he was getting NO WHERE any faster than I was.................sometimes life gives you these little "happy" moments......at one of the lights I could see he was slapping the wheel and just having a right "Fit" -------sure was in a hurry to get his little sprotscar someplace fast........but couldnt.......

yep-- Ill take my truck over that Lambo for "real" world use

There are disputes now over verification on its top speed claims due to its GPS not being verified by the record takers, but as it stands , just as @Don O listed above, the SSC Tuatara broke 331 and hit 242 in a half mile. Which is insanely brutal by any standard lol

I read where they plan on doing it again with all the gear vendor reps there this time to make sure everything is legit. Hell, still damn fast even if it was a few mph off.

Agreed totally. The nearest car in its class and records is the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ and it topped out at 304mph , so even if its numbers are off by as much as 25mph, its still tops the rest. I know the records are disputed over what is "production" and "street legal" as they classify that as being at least sold outside of one or more country and fit into at least 2 countries accepted highway use and both the Bugatti and SSC are working towards widespread compliance but arent quite there yet.

By that logic, the Koenigsegg Agera RS is the current holder at just 277mph, but either of these cars would destroy its spot once they reach a few simple tweaks in compliance

I have an older friend who ran the Dodge Viper/Prowler plant in the 1990s. Here’s a little story from him a few years ago. Talk about sustained speed, the race goes up a mountain and then back down.

“I provided a new stock Viper GTS coupe and rode shotgun with him (John Hennessy) in the Silver State Classic open road race in Ely, Nevada in 1998 or 1999 (90 miles one way, then 90 miles back - averaged 171 mph going up, and 174 mph coming back). Car was dead stock except for a roll cage and fire system.”

Stop lights and traffic. The great equalizer. Same story with me and my no power Honda Civic.

Add to that. Where I live, speed limits range from 30-45mph. Even my poor underpowered Civic can get me a speeding ticket in no more than a couple hundred feet from the stop light.... without trying... and still gets me upper 30s mpg.
My company recently gave me a company truck (after only 5 years of loyal service when others got one the day they joined lol). Its a Ram 1500 ecodiesel and i am impressed completely with its power and fuel efficiency. It averages about 25mpg, costs about $60 to fill up but can go for just at 500miles on a tank of diesel. And its very quick in response lol

I've never really understood the point of "supercars" for personal use. Sure, if you have access to a track (and the money) they've gotta be a lot of fun, but they seem too high strung for everyday use. My wife drives a Porsche and that thing may as well be a nitro funny car in the environment we live in. I'll take my lowly Subaru, its 36 miles to the gallon and its inconsequential cost to insure.
