Asides from the obvious half-step down, I feel that the replica has a slightly darker tone... The GIbby has a bit more of a "bite" to the sound, if that makes sense.... I like both, though!

Good catch on the full step down and how it affects the tone.

What the new Gibson Les Paul has shown me - more than anything - is just how good the replica is in terms of tone and playability.

Everyone who plays it wants it.

The replica will likely become a house guitar at the music academy to free up a hanger in my studio.

I like both of them actually...

The Logo somehow does not look right either. even upside down. But I would take a no name solidly built case that does the job of what a case needs to do, over one with a perfect logo that does not cushion or protect worth a hill of beans.

I envy you that fat neck. My fattest has an R8 profile that's almost in the same ballpark. Noticeably thicker than both my Trad and the old pre-Historic 59 reissue, anyway. Feels great in my hand, and seems maybe a bit less fatiguing over time? Can't really confirm that but I've wondered.

Sure don't envy you the weight. My back and shoulders aren't what they used to be.
My heaviest LP is 9.9lbs and I really feel it after awhile; that's become my least-played Paul.

Never seen a case like that. Must be a new style of latches for this year.
These may be more resistant to losing the shackle though, unlike the old style.
I think almost everybody who's owned a Gibson has lost a latch at some point...

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but all factory-installed Burstbuckers are potted.
The aftermarket BBs are sold unpotted though.
