Actually, if you place the "lower shoulder" of the guitar on your thigh it balances perfectly---see pic below----

IF you set the rounded section on your leg the neck dive is EPIC and horrible

NOT SURE why I look so pissed off--- weird-- anyway--- "balance" no hands guitar "sets" just right :)

Somehow I am more used to them looking like this with the point being on this side.
 
FUNNY in that THIS is a "reverse Firebird"

however the "Zero" is more true to the actual "firebird" shape in reverse than the actual "reverse Firebird" ---- them crazy Okies atr Gibson -- I tell ya lol
 
I think the biggest gripe I remember, out of mostly negative reviews, was the sloppy bridge to post fit (forward tilt), resulting in high action with the bridge decked.
Adrian you said yours is good so - good.
There are replacement posts where the top screws down onto the bridge and clamps it flat on the post.
This is the route I almost took but eventually "chickened out" on the Firebird Zero.
