Good price and nice car!
I had a 65 ,289 same trans in high-school.
Later a 71 Mach 1. The Cleveland even though it was a 2 barrel was a much better engine.

You know a big block will drop in that chassis.
Cool, those Clevelands are getting scarce. you said big block ...have 2 460's 1 internal & 1 external balance, with worked heads & good cam top end set up460 2 22 12 21 o.jpg

Got a few investigative hours put in today. Cleaned everything basically down to see what i am working with. Interior alright, will be able to save, re do front seats.
Will have to do some floor work, and most likely re do the whole front torque boxs & frame rails. Will have it apart all winter & if it needs it will do it.
Has a new Brawler 625 carb on, previous owner had zip tie connection to throttle that never worked right. Fixed that & was pleasantly surprised how radical it sounds now its getting proper throttle. Hood has no hinges, so took it off(has 2 front hood pins) Took a ride around with no hood & jamming some Ford toploader gears. Its in that boderline area of run it & fix it as you go or tear it down the whole way. I love 289's some reason they sound a tab better than the 302. maybe its that short stroke & winding the gears out to max performance but just a nasty engine. 68 M int.jpg68 M int a.jpg

So it begins, into the work bay, after much thought & 83 GT summer build. Going to Trans-Am style this. Build the thing the way it is & basically gut it & cage it. Seems i just go on 20 min speed runs around here & quick put it back in the garage hoping no blue lights are flashing behind me, lol. Luckily i live in car haven & as long as we stay on back roads there is some leeway & i have nice 12 mile loop just enough to burn 3 gallons of gas,,68 main a.jpg68 Main.jpg68 main b.jpg
