I have a Squire Jazz Bass and Fender MIM Jazz bass.....the MIM sounds better --- (Squire was free ---MIM was 120.00 )

Bass guitar is ---well BASIC--- if it goes BOOM properly ----there is NO REASON to pay 10K-----5K ---- 2.5K----

Honestly one of the best feeling/playing/Souning NEW basses I have played recently
are THESE Ibanez offerings many models UNDER 200.00
Ibanez GSRM20B 4-String Electric Bass Guitar

I got one for 10.00 at a yard sale ---vintage Lotus "P" bass --- with a little elbow grease and new strings.........its was awesome

I don't get it about really expensive guitars (and basses). I like high quality equipment, but
believe that the more the price rises over $2000, the less you get for each dollar spent.

But I also firmly believe that if someone has the money and can afford it, by all means
someone else should supply what they want or need. I am not opposed to prostitution for
the same reason... unless criminals are forcing women and boys to work in the sex trade.
String up the pimps and let the hookers go free (and keep their earnings) in my kingdom anyway.
Supply and demand will always rule.

So I'm happy to play my Warmoth Fretless J-Bass, that I built myself from parts I could order online.
I spent about $750, and now own a cool hand built bass with excellent tone and action.

I'm also happy to play my 1997 Squier P-Bass that I was given free, and have since invested
about $450 in parts and labor. For under $500 I rescued a POS and turned it into a fine playing
Precision Bass that is up to the most demanding professional standards.

So the cheap instrument might need some expense and effort to upgrade it to higher standards,
but the ones I've worked with (Epiphone and Squier) have responded very well to this.

2K is my threshold of severe diminishing returns too.
I will and have gone that far but will not go much further.
Not when you can get a new PRS S2 Mira semi hollow for 1K.

Col, I always dig both of your fretted basses. Your hacked up J that got devalued by a kid who knew no better, yet served many years to earn it's way to a priceless jammable work of art for the owner. Then every time I look at that Blacker than Black P bass I know if I ever get another P, I want it all blacked out like yours. My current Blue glitter with Maple neck Steve Harris bass is my costly specimen, but I also truly love my under $250 Squier Vintage Modified P that is White with Black guard and rosewood fretboard.

120.00 Fender MIM Jazz bass.........good BOOM STICKS dont cost big $

Oh the Rickenbastard next to it --- 225.00 .....nope BIG BOOM dont cost BIG BUX
