1 Guitar, 1 Amp, 1 Pedal - you should never have sold...

I sold a '68 SG Custom over thirty years ago because I really needed cash to get by. It was one of two guitars I sold because I was hurting for cash, and regret. Fortunately, I had not yet bonded with the guitar. Yeah, I wish I had it, but it's not a guitar that was already in a role in my life where it was being used all the time. The same goes for my "Rudolf Schenker" Flying V. Both guitars I wish I still had.

Since I normally only buy something after playing it a bunch, then deciding if it fills a role in what I may be doing at the time, I often only buy stuff after I'm sure I need it. Very few things were ever purchased on a whim, as a result. I think over the years, I've sold eight guitars and one amp. With what I have now, I can't say I miss any of them.

As 1981 TS-9 and Big Muff.

In 1981 when I bought my LPC I bought a TS-9, a Big Muff, an MXR chorus or phaser (can’t remember which) and some other pedals. Fast forward to around 1997 and I’m in GC with my guitar buying coworking and I start playing this new dangled gadget from Digitech, an RP-12. This floor board thing could do almost any type of pedal and bundle them into a patch. How farking cool is that I thought. The next day I’m back at GC trading ing the TS-9, Big Muff and MXR to offset the cost of the RP-12. It could even done panning and I bought a second Marshall Valvestate 8280 with visions of panning across a stage. Well, THAT never panned out :pound-hand: . Wound up selling the second Marshall a year later and the RP a while after that. Bought a new TS-9 and Big Muff in the early 2000s.

In our younger years, letting Muff go is an everyday experience - nowadays, we look back with regret because every Muff was important. My first pedal in Korea (I think...) was a Germanium Double Big Muff, a bit of a mouthful, but wonderful none the less... I should never have let her go...

I should have kept both of those pedals...

Everything I ever had was kind of crap so don't really regret selling anything that much :D

But knowing what I know about Strats know, maybe I could've kept my MIM Standard from 2002 and made it more to my preference technically. Then again there was a lot of negative emotional baggage (anti-mojo?) attached to that guitar so I'm kind of happy it went.

I kind of wish I kept my Digitech Digi Delay, it wasn't too bad.

No regrets about amps :)

No regrets on guitars, I keep the ones I really like!!

Amps amd pedal. Sold my purchased new 1983 2203 white halfstack AND DM2 delay at the same time in 87 to a buddy to fund the Jubilee. I should have kept both. At least I see it now n then.
