Just a Les Paul family pic.

Funny story about how I got my first SG, speaking of Les Pauls.

I still remember being at my dad's house back in 2012. It happened quite by accident. I was actually hunting a Les Paul when I lost the bidding on a Green BFG at right around $600 or $800 on ebay. I forget my bid threshold back then.

That is when my next opportunity presented itself.
I must have scrolled or searched SG's and came across one that essentially went off without any glitches for me to buy it for less than the $600-$800 price of the BFG, and it came with a pink lined, brown Gibson case and free shipping to boot.

So, instead of a BFG I wound up with my surprise. The all go and no show, Black 1989, 3 knob Special complete with original pots and Bill Lawrence circuit board pups, no scratch-plate, maple unbound neck.

Nice. I've never had them all out of the cases at the same time. If I ever do for some reason will snap a pic. Les Pauls rule.
gball's Les Paul's rule anyway. This much I know.

Looks like Headache's Les Paul's rule too.
AND from the one's I have seen of Jethro, his too.

I know that Robert Herndon has found his Holy Grail of guitars too with that Gold Top. This possibly says a lot for the current run of LP's if at least a decent percentage of post Henry J runs of them live up to the standards of the one he got.

Although, if my memory serves, gball and a few others have had Henry J era guitars that turned out to be of good quality too.

Yep my first real Gibson Les Paul. A 17 Tribute. I installed a Duncan Distortion, grover locking tuners, straploks ,custom knobs and a little cross truss rod cover. She's almost perfect...

I was in Guitar Center today to pick up some Deoxit and I looked over at the used guitar wall and they have 3 of them that look just like yours. They don't say what year they are on the tags, but they all have the same finish as yours and maple necks. I played one of them for a little bit and all I can say is Gibson really stepped up their game on the newer tributes. It rans circles around my 2013 Tribute. The neck feels awesome, frets are a little low, but not too bad. It's going to be real hard for me not to go back tomorrow and bring one of them home. :fingersx:

Do it! Do it! Do it!
My tribute literally sings! Think about this, with no binding ..it's got more wood in it.
The year will be stamped on back of the headstock I absolutely love mine!

I just wish I had made up my mind before the bank closed today. I hope they’re all 3 still there when I go back tomorrow so I can compare them side by side and pick the best one.

Re. Binding. I have an 06 G400. Thread in ETSG dealing with binding. Mentioned mine did not have it. A more knowledgeable member pointed out in fact I did. Epiphone just used a redwood strip that matched the redwood fretboard. So I looked closer and turns out I have binding on the G400. You can see the strip and the fret ends aren’t visible like on my Strat that definitely does not have binding.
