I wouldn't try to turn it into a sig model that it might or might not originally have been. But that's just me.

Cosmetically, I'm not loving the look of those knobs - IMO reflectors for this guitar should at least have the gold centers.
Personally I'd prefer speed knobs, either gold like Randy's or black for contrast.

I also prefer the look of a Les Paul with no pickguard. I had to leave it on mine because the finish didn't darken as much where the pickguard shielded it from the light for all those years. You might peek underneath and see if yours is the same.

What's the bridge pickup, looks like probably a Super Distortion?

IMO that guitar would look equally great with gold covers or with exposed pickups that matched.
Either double creams or double blacks, but not one of each.
Again, that's just my taste.

One nice thing about double black is, it gives you hundreds of options. So you could choose one that suits your personal tastes and matches this particular guitar's character.

Back in the 70s I had cream Gibson LPC with DiMarzio PAFs and no pickguard. It looked great that way. Of course it wasn't as yellowed as ours. Not sure whether in person the DiMarzio cream would seem too orange against the aged-ivory shade today. That's a judgement call.

Another option would be gold open covers like mine has. I'd intended to change them but now I kinda like it that way, a la The Edge's #12. Not a bad look.

Obviously, the right answer is to leave it alone.

But, then I looked at the picture again and...

That thing screams for black speed knobs IMO. I don’t see a need to change anything else...unless you really dislike a pickup(or both) for sound/tonal reasons.

I have to agree with these fellas, the knobs are all wrong (look ugly to my eyes), so I'd probably change to black speed knobs.

How well documented is this??? I've seen Burny knock offs...the rosewood board would be technically incorrect for a replica of Rhoad's 1974 Les Paul Custom.
You mean this particular one or Burny RR model in general?

Good point about the fretboard. I'm not sure that it is RW though, it's much darker than my other RW fretboards. I'll have to have a closer look.

AT, At 57 years old, I NEVER thought I would get a Jackson RR3 V as my first V. I really expected to get a symmetrical Gibson, Epiphone, or even King V type Jackson, Dean, etc.

BUT with my limited budget, I got the Jackson Rhoads in Black and it is a sweet piece. However, I really like your Burny LP too.

Hey Robert, just thinking about what John messaged about my V when he had it all apart at his house. He mentioned it was well shielded and grounded. Made comment just how dead silent it was hum wise. Instantly thought of you and all your efforts to silence guitars over the times we have known you here.

That's awesome news!!!!

Yes, I'm a stickler for quiet stuff...
