I sold a '68 SG Custom over thirty years ago because I really needed cash to get by. It was one of two guitars I sold because I was hurting for cash, and regret. Fortunately, I had not yet bonded with the guitar. Yeah, I wish I had it, but it's not a guitar that was already in a role in my life where it was being used all the time. The same goes for my "Rudolf Schenker" Flying V. Both guitars I wish I still had.
Since I normally only buy something after playing it a bunch, then deciding if it fills a role in what I may be doing at the time, I often only buy stuff after I'm sure I need it. Very few things were ever purchased on a whim, as a result. I think over the years, I've sold eight guitars and one amp. With what I have now, I can't say I miss any of them.

. Wound up selling the second Marshall a year later and the RP a while after that. Bought a new TS-9 and Big Muff in the early 2000s.
