Well, I only got 1, so it was a surprise to me. The 1979 "The SG" wasn't shielded like this. I like discovering new sh#t.

Yep. Like the fact they used a terminal block to for the input jack connections. I would have expected better caps though.

Cool... Never seen that type of shielding around the selector switch and the jack. The metal plate/shield for the pots eliminates the need to run separate ground wires to the pots...

Absolutely no noise. Next string change I'll pull the pups and report back. This is a stock 81 LP C.

I remember I think I had some connections mis oriented to my 3 way switches when swapping Pots n such, and got no noise,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Till I switched the connections around. Then beautiful music as I strummed.

The other one I hate is when I accidentally get the bridge and neck pots switched cuz of soldering with guitar upside down and then realizing I needed to think upside down to get it right once I flip guitar over.

You can still buy the 'ashtrays' for these guitars. They are being reproduced.
An absolute requirement for me...congratulations!!!
Floor or "white noise" is virtually eliminated with proper shielding. Have you ever set a cell phone on a guitar that is plugged in and called it???
I go out of my way to shield everything and also use shrink wrap to insulate all the bare conductors and especially the unused (energized) legs on the volume and tone pots...
But, in this case, the 3 ashtrays totally encapsulate the electronics, so its just a faster way to do it during factory assembly...
