I like Ebony, Rosewood and Maple fretboards. I chose Maple in the poll because I prefer Maple FBs on Strats and Teles. It seems that I've become fond of Stratocasters and Telecasters. I have no experience with Richlite and Pao Ferro FBs. I did buy a Hadean Tele from Rondo with an "engineered Rosewood" fretboard. The description on the website said it was aged maple, but it looked like dried out Rosewood. I inquired and got the truth and a discount returned to me. I didn't like the neck and sold the guitar for what I paid plus shipping.

So, I started hammering/shaping the fret ends, with a tiny brass hammer , to give them a "rolled" appearance

That's how I finish all fretjobs now....

I think I have three guitars with ebony fret boards. I really love the Martin D28, they did everything perfect. I had a 1976 Martin D28 that the guy never came back for because he died. I finally found his family and gave it to them. Things didn't look to good so I said he paid for it when he dropped it off. That guitar was nasty in workmanship and the rose wood body was ugly. The wood fix guy did most.
I love a maple fret board on a white Strat and always called them the perfect guitar. I have no idea I call them that. Rose wood I had coming out my ears. I don't really like it because it is too common.

I love ebony fret boards on nearly every guitar. I don't like them on Telecasters and some Strats.
I think I play those guitars differently, of course I don't but I think I do. I never really knew what the deal was with ebony, some times I couldn't tell it from rose wood. My mother's Steinway concert grand was coming up on an anniversary. They took it to New York City for a birthday make over and one of their tech guys explained the reason for ebony and how it is very strong and stable. After that I liked ebony much more.

I had a favorite before I broke my neck and have no feeling in my hands I'm happy I'm not paralyzed. I don't play with my eyes closed like I did but I still play.
