Polishing a satin finish

Anyone got a good tip on how to get the maximum shine out of your satin finished guitars? Any type of polish that is recommended?

I know some others have done it.
I had a future tribute I was about to try it on then I traded it off for a Peavey T-60 which I use furniture polish on ....liquid gold brand ....only for wood protection it isn't shiny

Lots and lots of guys on the MLP forum have shined up their satin LP's. If you do a search over there there are a bunch of threads that give details, what they used, step-by-steps.

A buddy of mine has one of the goldtops and he hasn't polished it but since he plays it so much it has taken on a really cool sheen, almost as if he had polished it.

I use Godin Luthier grade guitar polish its non silicone based. It protects, revives& beautifies your guitar finish. Doesn't leave a buildup, also safe for metal hardware as well. Safe for use on all finishes. Leaves no wax buildup.

Another thought is Virtuoso cleaner and polish.

This is what I use on my Gibsons. The stuff is like magic on a nitro finish, and it's made specifically for it.

Here's a thread where someone did it:

I got a tip about Meguiar's 2X scratch remover, so I bought a bottle and had a quick go on the LP goldtop. I didn't have time to rub and polish as long as I guess I should have, but I'm relatively happy with the results anyway. Definitely no mirror shine, but quite a lot more shiny than it was. I might have another go later, but it's not really a very big deal to me. I need better light to get some proper pics of the result.

And after the polish:

I know they aren't really good pics for comparing; different light, angle and so on, but The light polish definitely made a difference.

This is interesting; I've often thought about this because there's a goldtop future tribute NOS available locally which I really like the back and neck of (faded style), but the gold top is a very average satin. It might be an interesting guitar to buy and turn into a LP classic?
