I know this is a little late in coming but I did mention it in the recent Tele thread.
Here is my newly acquired Fender Tele FMT HH. It is a mahogany body and set neck. Yup, you read that right! A set neck Tele! The top is flamed maple and mine has a bit of spalting between the pickups.
It has coil splitting in both neck and bridge and a 3 way switch.
It sort of answers the question "what if a Tele was a LP".

WOW! that is a sexy Tele! Spalted top, abalone inlays, binding everywhere. What's not to love?

Wow...that's sure a unique looking Tele and I love the smooth neck joint for more comfortable playing on the upper frets. Of course the top looks gorgeous and I sure love the look of spalted maple...it sure has character to it. If you ever get bored of it in the future you know where to reach me neighbour!

Nice looking piece there ninja. I really like the grain on the headstock. I’m a Fender set neck fan too. Are those SD pups?

I love that guitar; great find there, NK. Such an interesting combination, the binding looks especially great as does the neck and headstock; lovely grain and inlays (obviously the top does too).

So, I looked it up and expected it to be a $2000+ custom shop. That's an excellent purchase. A shockingly flat radius neck for a Fender 15.75".

I was thinking the same; the neck to body, front and back are lovely.

Thus the question begs: does she play as good as she looks?

I paid $600CDN for it. Not sure if it's a good price but it's in the right ballpark. It is quite light and comfortable to play and it sounds good.

Don,

The pups are allegedly custom wounds from some French or Italian guy whose name I can't remember. They sound quite good both in single coil and humbucking modes. I plan on changing strings and conditioning the fretboard this week so I will pull them to see if there is anything on the baseplates. I plan on taking gutshots too. Gotta keep the Guitar Porn addicts happy!

Nickel covered pups would look good. Do you have any experience with those Seymour Duncan pickup combinations that you mentioned?
