So Anyway...

So anyway, in case anyone needs to take a 350# cap off a truck and you don't have help. Try this....

I'm a thinking the reverse process will be harder, with all of that backing ... up left right left right etc.

Nope....just as easy. You don't even need to be exact backing in. Just ballpark, lower, remove wood, position top, bolt on, Done!! Just make sure to put a new foam seal first.

LOL Bocce, you should see me take whole 8 foot beds off Full size pickups by myself. Caps weigh nothing compared to the beds.
My method is to unbolt everything. put 2 pairs of 50 gallon drums a little wider than my truck and back the bed in between. Then I use similar method as you to put 2x wood under the bed and drive out. The only thing is I have to do it in my field due to not having any kind of garage roof to hang anything by.

Without a lift, whis is one of the best ways to service everything from brakes to fuel lines etc on a truck that I have found over the years.

So anyway, went pawn shop shopping today. 4 shops, only 2 with anything even worth looking at. I could of bought a dozen squires for $69 each. Lots of Epiphones. Mostly junk. Only saw one nice LP and a 335. Was fun looking at all the other crap. Almost bought a lost in space robot :ROFLMAO:

SO ANYWAY---if you ever wondered what an actual poop TON of pavers looks like --- this is it......

YA'll think I AM THE FERENGI in the FAMILY --- no -- NOT EVEN CLOSE -- I pale in finagling compared to my dear wife....

Re-decorating?

building a shed.....needed a floor---

now I will be making a patio---and a walkway--- and whatever else her little head can dream up ..........

So anyway, in case anyone needs to take a 350# cap off a truck and you don't have help. Try this....

All you need is a couple 2x4, four tie downs, some eyebolts, and a strong back.

Rig 2x4 with eyebolts. Do the same on ceiling, and hang tie downs...
View attachment 14710

Get in truck bed, lift cap with back, slip 2x4 under front and back section. Call medic for spine adjustment.

View attachment 14711

Now just connect straps to eyelet, and gently lift each an inch.

View attachment 14712

Now, carefully drive away.

View attachment 14714

And that's it. By now your hernia and spine have healed. You can now safely use your truck to move your favorite piano.

FYI--- I used my Ford F150 to move all the pavers ;)

I know your pain!
12 months ago the people next door to me had their house demolished for a new build. My dear wife also arranged for free pavers. They're still in two stacks way down our backyard and my back is just about healed.

I actually caught a few fish too! The pictures are on the little action camera(mounted on the pole in the first pic). I have to actually fire up a computer to get at them...

Now that is the funniest story I have heard in awhile.

So any way . . . . I haven't been around much the past week or so because of ALL the drama and politics at work, that some how managed to follow me home. I got caught in the middle of a boss and a co-worker. Since I am the Dept. Lead they both came to me . . . different times of course. Tempers and Egos, a bad combination. Its over now . . . I think. It was a crappy week for sure.

Sorry to hear that. Grab your favorite guitar and let it wash away brother.

^^^ I'm sure I've seen Mad Max killing people with stuff that looks very similar to that...

So anyway, I bought some maple and reconstructed my first set of necks from the 2 walnut guitars.

Did you literally make them out of slabs of wood? If so, great work.

What your last thread on the two bodies you bought showed was that you are at the level to make complete guitars better than buying parts from other folks, imho. Your road from a novice (a complete novice just 18 months to 2 years ago) to a skilled gent, and soon to become a craftsman has been enjoyable to watch. I may have been a tad harsh in that thread, but that wasn't the intention, but rather to see the first set of prototypes for RVA guitars - can't be long now.
