TTR Les Paul picture and appreciation post

Though I lust for one of these maple topped beauties, I only have this all mahogany flat topped beastie, that can be called a Les Paul.

A 2005 Les Paul Special Doublecut. Sick unlimited fret access, nice thin taper neck, a real dream to play.
Did the magnet flip on the neck pickup years ago for hum canceling in the middle position.
Added the reflector knobs & a 3 ply guard. Other than that, just a Bigsby and a roller bridge to keep me amused.

Dang nabbit, you guys... Some of you need to give out some details... :BH:
OK, I'll join in. This is Aggie, an Agile 2000 that relocated from the swamp. Aggie has Tyson Tone P-90s pups with a preamp. The standard 2 volume 2 tone pots were replaced with a single volume pot + bass, treble and midrange EQ. The 3 way toggle switch was replaced by a blender pot

Crazy how those Silverburst finishes get a greenish hue over time....

Snotburst.

But really, the clear lacquer turns just as yellow on all of them, its just the silver under it that gives the weird green appearance.

I also realize now how horrble that picture is. The guitar doesn’t look half that awful in real life. Its got plenty of wear but its still a beauty. I should take anbetter pic.

This is my humble entry. The mod platform for my ultimate working man's Les Paul.

2016 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute with the hard to find 1958 style .951" neck. It's taken a long time to locate this neck. Thanks to Adrian for the lead.

Sold new by Matt's Music in Weymouth, Massachusetts, it even came with an unfilled warranty card and all the original paperwork.

All stock except for locking tuners, poker chip delete, nickel switch tip and black pickup trim rings. Original parts included.

Planned mods are going all black with the Top Hats, black pickguard, custom 50's harness and custom wound, double-black Alnico IV Seymour Duncan's.

Its just a fantastic guitar and it was even in tune when unboxed. Great neck angle, nearly decked bridge and tailpiece, nice fretboard radius, frets need no work, even the 498T/490R sound good.

I am very happy with it. Even the satin black is growing on me.

Of course it has the usual EMI/RFI/Buzz from lack of shielding, buts that's easily fixed, and its been the same with all 5 of my brand new Gibson's, so I can't knock this one for that.

Aside from that, it is the best of my two brand new Gibson Les Pauls!!!

Hahahahahaha! I bought my Dual Rec from Matt. Heck, I remember when he first opened up in Hanover, MA. Then he opened two more shops in Kingston, and Weymouth. Now he’s down to just the Weymouth location, and internet.

Ok, I've posted pics of my 2012 Traditional before but took a new one for this threadWP_20180502_002.jpg
While doing a string change a few days ago I put the 57/57+ pickups that it came stock with back in as I hadn't tried them in it since doing the Faber locking ABR1 & aluminum tailpiece. They do sound good, but the T top types will be back in there next string change. Cheers
Edit: This one has the chunky, 0.951" (at the nut) neck too Robert. Cheers

Goodness gracious!! Very nice! Also, you have my respct for slipping in a pup swap with string changes!

Thanks RVA. I think the most time consuming thing about changing pups is adjusting the height for best tone. You have some "really" nice axes shown above yourself. Cheers

Thank you! You know, there are some people who do not care about the adjustment on pickups at all, as crazy as that sounds. I have heard they sell pickups that are not adjustable at all!! Who would have thought?
