Seagull S6 Coastline Folk guitar - mid-size acoustic

every time I see one of these Canadian beauties, I am intrigued.
I have actually played three different ones, if I remember right... two dreads and
a smaller one, like classical size. Each had really nice voice, and seemed well
made... They feel good in your hands.

This brand is one that I recommend when people ask my advice on buying an acoustic that doesn't cost too much.
Made by our neighbors in Canada, out of cedar and Spruce, hard to beat IMHO.

Thanks for the input, Colonel. Your opinion means a lot.

I'm toying around with getting a smaller, completely non-electric, acoustic guitar. The Seagulls intrigue me, too. This little folk guitar has been getting a lot of good reviews.

I started another thread about a unique Peavey parlour-type guitar, but I'm starting to lean toward this Seagull.

Smitty --- in all honesty ---- (and I LOVE Peavey gear--) If you really have narrowed to the 2 (Seagull vs Peavey)
Get the Gull.

Oh, this adventure has just begun...and may get derailed entirely if something else comes along, like a good deal on a Marshall amp!

But, you're probably right. The Seagull is very likely the better instrument. I've also been looking at Breedlove.

Bought a Sea Gull Original 6 used off EBay a couple years back. The price was right at $200 bucks and the narrow head stock keeps it tune with abuse and temperature changes. Cedar top makes for dark tones. The silver cherry sides and back kick in light tones. A very nice blend and no way does it look like a $200 dollar guitar. My main acoustic is still my old Ovation, how ever today I placed an order by phone for a new Martin. I will need to ask you guys about how bad I screwed up. I was not supervised and it comes with a case.

I have heard only good things about Seagull.
The Seagull S6 dread appears in a lot of "good acoustic for beginners" articles that usually include the S6, the Yamaha FG700S and some others as the right mix of good quality at a budget price point.
I got that Yamaha used in mint condition and am very happy with it but dont have anything to compare it to.
The truss rod was a bit tight but some penetrating oil sorted things.

Funny this acoustic thread came up as I planned to make time for some acoustic this weekend.

Seagulls are a great deal for a fine instrument. I used mine on stage and recording. The cedar top gives it a voice that carries. I want to send it to my kid because he has a Fender Acoustic. The tone goes out maybe three feet and dies on the floor. I have heard so many good things about Seagull guitars that made me buy it over other well known brands. There is a YouTube video that compares it to a Martin D 15 and I think the Seagull did better.

Everyone I know that owns or played a seagull seems to like them. I've never played one personally, maybe I will the next time I'm in a guitar center.
